Bob Ross, painter and host of the TV show "The Joy Of Painting" had that hypnotic effect. It use to be on late afternoons on PBS and was a great relaxation 1/2 hour after work.

Yes Bob Ross definitely has that effect on me. But that's a not so subtle example - the guy's voice and manner is undeniably mellow and soothing. Sometimes it will happen to me with a voice that doesn't on the surface sound soothing, but something about it will make my eyes start closing.

Wasn't hypnosis shown to be a case of people going along with the hypnotizer because they don't want to make a scene by telling them it's not working?

No.  However, no one can be hypnotized to do something they really don't want to do.  That said, we're talking about the subconscious level here not the conscious level which is where your main choice discrimination takes place (for better or worse).  And this is exactly what hypnotherapy accomplishes, it bypasses the mind's line of defenses and communicates directly with the unconscious area (which is far more suggestible).  Advertisers use this religiously to bore your conscious mind while they brain wash you with their brand and thoughts that drinking some awful crap like Bud Light will somehow make you more popular and better looking.

Going back to your question, we learned in stage hypnosis class that there will be some that "go along" but they are actually poor subjects and we were taught how to avoid using them in any act.  I'm sure you can think of memories where someone you thought was very conservative maybe had a few too many and were acting wild and crazy.  Just because you're outwardly reserved doesn't mean that something inside of you doesn't dream of being an actor/actress or rock god.

Needless to say, the power to remove "common sense" as some people call it can be used inappropriately and we had a few required classes regarding practice ethics and morals (which were sometimes humorously ignored in class for instructional purposes - lol).  So when someone asks you why you've been running around the room pretending you're a chicken, it's actually because some part of you wants to have fun being an extrovert (or you're just a whack job   ).

Do you think I could be hypnotized to stop procrastinating? It's the bane of my life.....

Maybe later...

Hi,

I've always thought that Shakti Yoni fit in this area really well, and I never have thought of her as an object. But it did add something to the music, that many consider sexual, but it isn't. It's more "feminine" than anything else.

(That's Gilly Smyth, by the way, from Gong)

Flora Purin was the same way.

No.

Are you sure your autonomous sensory meridian response is not just a voice fetish?
