james , the md/side per node and the spectrum s worth an upgrade (not a full purchase imho) , own sonnox here , it's trused and sounds pristne , but one thing with pro Q s that t's easy on cpu /// 'm tired of having to deal with some pluhgins like havin a piece of HW !! testing as write Taupe and El Rey , love them , sounds exeptionnal :::: at 96k not 44k so those two insterted and i barely have room for the rest of my plugins ::: with what i spend a year in plugin , i m starting to wonder if HW wouldn't be it and voila !! (an ssl fusion comes to mind to polish mixes and done!!)
Thanks Zo!
My upgrade price was $66.23.
I actually just got a refund from FabFilter. I agree that there is some value there, but I have Mercury, I have Melda's EQ that does the sidechain - I was hoping to use Q3 to reduce my reliance on the other plugins and consolidate a little. Since it doesn't quite get there, it doesn't really add anything for me. I admit the idea of having some nodes stereo and some mid-side is attractive, but not worth the money.
Here was FabFilter's reply to my refund request:
Hi James,
No problem, I've requested a refund for your order with Cleverbridge. We do think though, that even without dedicated attack and release controls and external side input, the dynamic EQ feature in Pro-Q 3 is very useful for say 90% of your dynamic EQing needs. So maybe you'd still like to give the trial version a go to see how it works for you. :) Again, the new features he mentions are great, but I have plugins that already do that and more...
PS: Totally get the hardware comment. I'm now in a fullblown hybrid system with outboard and LOVING IT! :)
