got rid of cable.  I feel so clean.  No more sitting on the couch, and channel surfing, no more seeing even for a second, "the Khardasians,' or "the real housewives of mylanta."  I bought an HD antenna at a yard sale for $5.00.  I'm getting over 50 channels.  Okay, they are mostly Spanish and Korean, but hey!

Congrats.  I hope you enjoy it for a long time.  I don't have the option--I'm in an apartment.  

I'm going to try and go strictly internet in a year or so. Ruku, Apple tv, Google whatever it is or something. I spend most of my tv time on youtube, bluray or Netflix as it is.

The over the air picture is amazing.  Uncompressed HD, and awesome sound.

What's TV?

I dumped my cable TV 3 years ago. My TV has a digital tuner so the antenna pulls in 13 channels just like the old days. The signal quality is so much better than cable and it's free. I use Netflix for movies and old TV series. I have more than enough to watch and save about $600 per year. I wish the internet could come in via the air waves.
 
I don't know about the rest of the world, but in my area there's NO competition for TV and internet. The same is true for water and electricity. Total monopoly and the providers really stick it to us.
