I thought only Paul was not wearing shoes?

I can't believe that I missed this last night.  A guy at work who knows that I am a die hard fan walked into my office first thing this morning and said...."So did you see it?"  I was like....."NOOOOOOOOO...I completely forgot that it was on last night."  I hope that my TWC look back is working on this one.  Maybe I can look back and watch it tonight.

I'm a huge Beatle fan, but I'm just not a big fan of these kind of shows. I flipped back and forth between it and the Olympics. I kept wishing they would just show the Beatles. Am I the only person in the world who thinks Alicia Keys is over rated?

PBS  had a very informative show called "Produced By George Martin".  The Beatles' stuff was a big part of it, of course.  They also talked about The Goons, Cilla Black and other British Invasion bands that he worked with.  I'd completely forgotten that he worked on Jeff Beck's "Blow By Blow".  It's worth a viewing for Beatlephiles.

It's a few years old and isn't hard to find.  I'll try to post a link later on.

Hi,

I just hard the stuff they had from the old Hamburg days, and you could see that the band was gonna get somewhere. Despite being out of tune a couple of times, and the harmonies not being totally right, in the end, it takes guts to play your own stuff like they did, and get away with it.

Any manager worth his beans, would have wanted a piece of this. You don't hear bands that young and that good almost anywhere, regardless of your name and who you are.

I thought it was great.

That said, I thought there was a huge divide between what was and what is. Really pathetic actually.
I mean, compared to "The Beatles" that were ,everybody that covered one of their tunes on the show, well, sucked.
In particular (and I hate to say it) Stevie Wonder. What a hack job he did.

I thought Katy Perry was pretty good.

The whole thing just reminded me of basically the difference between analog and digital. I think it's taken over the stars of today. Their souls have become digital.

The one kid who did a solo act with acoustic and voc was phenomenal. But, it just sounded like there was nobody home. Just the notes, done to perfection. I do believe his guit part was lip synced per se.

Anyway, bla bla bla. Paul was great. Ringo was great. (Ringo had a blast:)........
I always forget what a great bass player Paul is.

I walked past Yoko Ono in the West Village a couple of years ago. She was with a kind of fawning, slurping entourage. As she approached and it slowly dawned on me who she was, she immediately gave me this kind of sneering, threatening look which said "I see that you're looking, don't you DARE attempt to smile or say hello."

I'm used to getting this look from women in the West Village, but usually from younger, hotter ones. Not 70-something ex-groupies.

Here's a place that I found Sir George Martin's show.  I can vouch for the streaming video--my PC sucks at that.  It was interesting to see footage of tape loops stretching across the studio.

It's also available on blu-ray from Amazon.  I wonder if George was invited to the Beatles' show.

I would have run screaming 'cause you never know when she may start singing screeching.

I thought Katy Perry was great, even though some people are sqwaking about her changing the lyrics to Yesterday....

Annie Lennox was great. Joe Walsh was great, Alicia Keys was great...Paul and Ringo were great...I enjoyed the whole show very much.  I'd like to watch it again.
