I went for it..     $125 for Kontakt 5 at Christmas and $200 for the Komplete 9 crossgrade.    Sweet.

Do you need the latest version of Kontakt or can you upgrade from an earlier version? (I didn't see this at the Sweetwater site)...

Uh.. good question.  I don't recall seeing a specific vesion number mentioned for the Sweetwater crossgrade offer, and since I do have v5 I didn't inquire.  
 
I got a confirmation email from my sales rep just this morning though, so I can ask if you'd like.

BOXED only
Crossgrades the following products to Komplete 9:
• Maschine 1 & Maschine 2 (NOT Mikro)
• Maschine Studio
• Rig-Kontrol v1 through v5 *
• Reaktor v2 through v5
• Kontakt v1 through v5
* Guitar Rig software (no Rig-Kontrol) NOT qualified.
