ok, so the determination is "at the time you board the aircraft". So you get to your seat, the overhead locker is already half full and is 2 inches to short for your monster gear flight case anyway... You check under your seat and find a bass sized monster gear flight case already there belonging to the guy in the seat next to you.
You've nowhere to put your guitar, and no way to get back to the gate to buy another ticket (as per the requirements..)
Sounds like fun.
I was also thinking that the real big issue is that some of those cases are made of cardboard! Yeah, a guitar is gonna get crushed. I wanna see a hard shell case get crushed, because if it does, that would be considered lawsuit time, for serious recklessness and everything else.
I find this thread bizarre, to say the least, since any ANY airline, not knowing that a band is flying with them, or a musician with a name, is not only stupid, they will pay for their ignorance sooner or later. It's part of our radio/tv madness ... they ignored you, and when you interviewed the artist it gets mentioned and it happens enough times, you can do some amazing things ... like remove a sheriff, remove an alderman, remove member of congress ... how far do you wanna go and play games?
Any bad "press" out there about these things, is serious, and can you imagine Virgin getting that, when Mr. Balls got his start stealing from musicians?
