Yes, '83-ish was very confusing..I remember liking Simple Minds, ZZ Top, Level 42, Tull, Howard Jones, Huey Lewis, Freur, Al Jarreau, AC/DC, John Martyn..I used to make some weird old mix tapes..

I can't even make up an unfunny about any music I listened to over the years.

It seems to me that I liked whatever I chose to listen too. Still not ashamed that I say Like A Prayer is one kick ass tune.

Ok, maybe Mr. Mister.

I still love Last Chance by Shooting Star.  I saw them play live at ChicagoFest in '82.  They played that song as their encore.  Fabulous.

I'll admit to having thoroughly enjoyed the Glee episode that they did a tribute to Journey.

Is that like a guilty pleasure within a guilty pleasure?

Can't see anything wrong with either me-self.

To be honest, I've never really understood the term 'guilty pleasure'.

I don't have anything in my music collection I feel 'guilty' about.

I suppose that I've acquired a few albums and singles along the way I might be slightly 'embarrassed' or mildly 'ashamed' about owning, if that's what you're after Jan.

That'll work.

You don't actually have to be ashamed to like a band.  We've some good examples already.  Sometimes the band is just ahead of its time.  Sometimes it's just that you're friends like one style of music and you like another.  It doesn't have to be literal.

Have to admit I'm partial to a bit of Dire Straits now and again.

Oh and Cliff Richards "Carrie Doesn't Live Here Anymore" is a great tune, almost Steely Dan-esque harmonically speaking....
