Came in this morning and my trusty 828MKII refuses to boot. Waah!

Hopefully, it's something simple such as one of MOTU's famous cold solder joints, but I'm thinking perhaps a voltage regulator. It powers on, but won't cycle through the boot sequence.

I've heard that MOTU will do a refurb exchange for $100 + shipping, but that's not an option at the moment so I've got to take a stab at repairing it. Dagnabit! It's not like I don't already have enough BS going on...making music is all that keeps me sane.

I hate when that happens. I was looking forward to doing some recording over Christmas, and my widescreen monitor died on Christmas Eve. Took 10 days to get another one.

So you had two Christmas Eves in 10 days.

Did you get doubles on all gifts?

Well, I opened it up, kinda hoping to see a charred TO-220 in there, or a smoke trail, but no such luck. I identified three regulators, each of which measured at the expected voltage. The lights are on but nobody's home.

That happens a lot in here too...  Maybe it accidentally downloaded the forum software from here and freaked out?
