Blender isn't an editor, it's 3D graphics software. I'll have a look at those freebie editors though.

File from the Blues Fest last July was 5:02 minutes long, so that is 312mB file which is only recorded at 30 frames/sec and only HD Ready which is only 1280x720 resolution. Using full resolution with your videocam (1920 x 1080 and 60 frames/sec) I am only estimating for those who may not know but probably around 750mB or 3/4 of a Gigabyte or so.
Well, that is about it.

And all of them compress the file to a certain extent when recording.
