Fondest JM memory is of seeing him at Cheltenham Town Hall, mid-'90's. He'd requested that the seating rows be removed and replaced with small circular tables with 4 chairs around each, plus wine bottle candle holder. Made for a wonderful atmosphere. I remember a particularly storming version of 'Rock Salt and Nails' that night.

One very pleasant evening at the Cliffs in Southend on sea about five minutes into the intermission he came out sat on the very front of the stage, legs dangling over the side, and gave us few who had not run out to buy alcohol a moment or two of his amazing talent, May you never, Bless the weather and a couple of others.  He chatted to us between numbers which just put the icing on the cake of an amazing evening.  Thank you John (Martyn).
