Thanks for your opinions guys!

yeah, it's a pitty spectrasonic doesn't offer a lightweight demo version... for a pricy toy like that.
It seems to be the best bass module around, so I think I'll go for it. ...and hope I want regret it.

Having had the experience of reading the product description and glowing reviews that described the product as the best, most detailed, realistic and articulate bass instrument on the planet, and then having the Spectrasonics rep ask me where I got the idea that it was supposed to sound detailed, realistic, and articulate, I now suspect that Spectrasonics doesn't want people to get a chance to demo the instrument for them self before you get suckered in to paying.

best regards,
mike

Thanks for the warning Mike! All the reviews and sound demos on the net indeed sound rather tempting. What kept me from buying it already besides the pricing is the hassle of installing the gigantic library. The longer I can't make up my mind, the better I get in playing bass guitar myself probably...  : )

Unfortunately my iPad...for some unknown reason...refuses to block you Mike, ol stick. But it is bracing, and quite gratifying to see that you are still a priggish contrarian...and an idiot, as far as music making and production is concerned, to boot. Thanks for the laugh. They are in such short supply these days.

LMFAO :-))

'Goofy driver' maybe ?

Trilian is great, I'm a bass player and I use both Trilian and real bass, whichever suits the gig at the time.
Sure you can make it sound goofy, just like a real bass :-)

Bass module is a really huge under statement, it's a pretty deep instrument, just so many things you can do with it.
Dig in to it and I'm pretty sure it'll blow you away.
Much more than just a bass, it can be a friggin' power house (IMHO).
If you get it, be prepared to spend some time with it and I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed.

Cheers - Cliff

I agree with all the rave reviews... Trillian has a huge resevour of instruments beyond bass guitars, including all sorts of synth samples.  It is quite wonderful.  I recently picked up a couple basses and am enjoying getting back into it and definately create differently but I totally agree with cliffr on that one...

Ya can't play a chapman stick but Trillian's is wonderful...

Never had Trilogy, so can't really comment but Omnisphere, RMX and Trillian are first class... maybe they are the "trilogy" you should have waited for, Mike!  Or maybe Spectrasonics learned from that experience and upped their game. Anger and comments from you and others may have actually helped us get better successor products!  If so, thanks, Mike.  I'm sorry Trilogy sucked... I have a lot of those items still on my hard drive but things change...

Spectrasonics should tell people it's a minimum of $50 for the demo.

...I've been looking around on the internet for some alternatives in the meantime. Trilian is the most sophisticated it seems. I guess I have to think that way : What are my actual needs? Basically It started all with looking for a simple bass solution. I use NI Scarbee Precision Bass or various synth basses that come with the stock synths (Zeta, Dim Pro..ect) and (please don't laugh...or do so hahaha) an Ibanez Mikro shortscale bass since I don't really have bass player hands. That one sounds the most realistic but cheap of course.
If I get over the fear of the installation (adding an extra drive seems to be necessary...) I think I'll go for the adventure.
All your comments really helped to a desicion (...or made it even harder...? I'll know by the end of next week)
Thnx guys!
