I think I could have some fun with that MIDI bass I linked to above. It seems like it could be fun to drive some synth bass stuff with it.

I have been enjoying the tiny little Volca Bass analog synth I got last November. It's fun to turn the knobs and warp the tone.

I also noticed that the Moog Little Fatty has been on sale lately... I'm on a microphone kick, or I'd have one on order.

At some point I decided, that for myself, a regular old bass guitar was the quickest and most effective way to get the sound of a bass guitar down in a song.

I can get it done with just about any preamp but I do have some personal favorites. I also have a couple bass amps that make it really, really fun to play bass, but the preamps make it super easy to get a nice recording.

I also have the "must have" DOD FX 25B enevelope filter pedal and a Electro Harmonix Micro Synth pedal that augement the bass guitar and make it sound synthy.

best regards,
mike

I have two synth bass patches in my Variax bass. You can borrow them any time you want McQ.

Did you want them in pure digital form or just on paper?

I am remiss in not mentioning Greg at Orange Tree Samples... He has several beautiful bass sample libraries...is a one man shop and a joy to know/correspond with.  If it is just Bass you're looking for, check out Greg's site....http://www.orangetreesamp...ct=viewCat&catId=1

Much more of a solo genius like Kirk Hunter, Greg gives a lot for your money.  Just had a big sale but if you mention one of the loyal sonar forum members turned you on to him, he will more than likely give you a deal... He's done this for me...

you're not dealing with a mega super company... (sorry Spectrasonics... I got ur stuff but ur not really one on one these days!) but a bonifide human being... like me and you... who answers you honestly, respectfully, and... oh, you know... that **** we don't get no more!

Orange Tree Samples would be an alternative. Unfortunately I only have the Kontaktplayer which I only use for the Scarbee Pbass. I can't spend the money for the full version at the moment.

I should probably sign up for a roll a day. How about a subscription?

Noisy Neighbor - I have Trillian and like all my VSTi which have large libraries, installed on a separate disc - get a big, quick disc.
One thing, install the new disc BEFORE installation of any Spectrasonics program as it can be an issue to move them afterwards.
I had Trilogy before Trillian - I thought Trilogy was good - Trillian Brilliant.

Bapu - I see you have a Variax Bass - is this any good? I have a selection of Bass Guitars which I feel give me a good choice - My  main Basses are a Vigier Active, Musicmaster Stingray, an Epiphone Allen Woody, a Burns Nu Sonic from the 60's,  an old Acoustic Bass and an old Vox from the 1980's which I love, although it weighs about the same as my car!
I use a Variax Acoustic when writing - to get things to fit and help make a decision on what type of acoustic to use when I record the track properly - it would be great to do the same with a Variax Acoustic if its any good.
Cheers
Nigel

Nigel, thanks for your advise concerning the disc. I was assuming that would be the proper way to do it. I'm already thinking about my other libaries like Superior Drummer and so on... would I need to uninstall and reinstall all of those...? Got to find some info somewhere how to proceed with all my existing VSTi...

The samplers that use large libraries usually let you install the app on the C:\ drive and let you install the library content on other discs.

If you move the library content to a new disc you may have to (usually have to) point the app to the new library location when you open old projects.

It usually works very well.

best regards,
mike

...so, I would just have to find the folder of an already installed sampler with the library in it, move it to the new drive and than point the app to it ...? that would be rather easy and a great relief... (sorry for asking computer dummy questions here, but I'm really not to handy in this kind of stuff...) I'm well aware of the procedure with a new install, though I've never done it due to a non existing 2'nd drive.
Great help, Mike! Thanks!
