The new EQ looks good, but it's expensive. I like the trial period being changed to two weeks.

$149.00 for this EQ ?????

is it me or is that just really expensive?  Sorry, I have no clue as I have so many bundled EQs and Freebie EQs that are just smooth and great to work with spending $149 on 1 EQ plugin seems, overkill to me.

It's the new business model they're going to...produce the same thing...
But raise the price.

Cakewalk felt it was appropriate...

Even in a stumbling Economy....with most vendors lowering prices to remain competitive...
RAISE the price...show the customer just how GREAT you think your product is!!!

Cake offer X3 on sale at a slightly worse price each time. So the people who are getting the emails are hardly going to buy it for a higher price than they were offered months ago. Bizarre.

It is expensive, but, as with all things IK, it's not that simple.  You can purchase enough "credits" to acquire this plugin for $99.99.  Which is still expensive, but significantly less that advertised.

Nice change to IK's demo policy.  Three days of demo time was absurd.  Still have to run Custom Shop for the demo to work, though.

Cheers,
Eddie

I posted about the credits / cash discrepancy on kvr. No official answer yet, but if they keep a large gap between credits and cash, then it's business as usual at IK. I'll however wait to hear the response before getting too critical.

After playing with IK's new Mastering EQ for a little while, I can say it sounds really good.  Right up there with the best native EQ plugins like Waves RS56 or even UAD's high-end EQs.  Boosts are smooth and clear, without harshness.  Overall, a nice transparent character -- hard to make it sound bad.

Now the question is, is it worth $100?  Maybe, if you don't already have a high-end EQ like those I mentioned above.  But if I wanted to spend that much on a plugin, I'd wait for the next revision of Equavescent, which is still in beta but offers the best sound quality I've ever heard from a software EQ, particularly on high-shelf boosts.

As usual, YMMV, demo them yourself, etc.

Cheers,
Eddie

I have all but given up on impulse purchases. If anyone has a hankering for a new EQ, surely this plug, as others will be part a group buy or some sale in the not so distant future.

Thanks for spreading the word on the new Custom Shop changes and additions. The extended trial period, options to use currency or credits and of course the new EQ.

I wouldn't be so sure about Group Buys on individual Custom Shop gear anymore, it'd more likely be on the Credits themselves. Or the collections like we are doing with the AmpliTube Group Buy going on right now.

Obi any response to the cash price discrepancy on gear versus credits as well as the inconsistent credit/cash ratio for other products?
