Ok larry. Are you talking about the vast majority of users here on this forum? All forums? Or all ST users?

Didn't get much support over the idea of a dedicated vendor's forum, but the more I think about it, the more it makes sense. The concept would be a win for everyone, and the purpose isn't to keep people from fighting.

I can see a vendor's forum that is read only. Some company comes up with a new product and it gets posted there. Thread is locked maybe and moderators would migrate commercial posts from here to there if they get posted here.

Advantage to a read only post from the developer is that the item would be visible longer in time since fewer people are developing that people commenting. Sometimes here a good tip will go off the bottom if you've been away for a couple days.

A company develops a SE 32 bit crusher, posts in the vendor forum and not a lot of discussion would be here. Someone develops the next generation of 4D reverb and a lot of analysis would happen.

Got to keep my mind open that lack of support for this idea may also mean I'm wrong and it would make a mess. Seems like a good idea.

This might pan out to be a good idea, but when any vendor posts a new product......and......if it's a read only post, (generally) there's a lot questions that prospective customers might want to know more about the product. If it's a "read only" post, it will negate communication. Which, I'm sure will be re-posted in another forum ie...software LOL.

Thinking the same here John. It would just manifest itself somewhere else.

Mesh, Grem. Yeah, I do have that reservation as well, also posts about time limited sales that would have to be cleaned up rather than letting them undergo a slow death here. You're right. We would end up with a lot of duplicated stuff.

Back to the drawing board...

OK. Re-read your post and I missed this part. Maybe this would serve a good purpose. Those that want new product info, from who ever, could just check with that forum and seek info from that point on their own. And then the threads that develop from there on other forums, would be on their own so to speak. But it would leave the latest product info more available to those seeking that info because it wouldn't be buried up so quick.

Am I understanding now?

Grem:
Give it up Larry! This majority you keep speaking of doesn't exist.
I totally agree with monkey and mandrake. They said it much better than I could.

Agree completely, Grem, Monkey, Mandrake.

There should be more important things in life than a vendetta against a software company.

And what's the relevancy of a post count?
A low post count can mean a job, a wife, kids, grandkids, you know... a life.

FYI, just over at another forum.

The ST3 upgrade prices were asked again. This time IK Peter replied "I don't have specific upgrade levels but I have been given the OK to share that it will be range of prices as low as $99.99 (conditions apply).

I don't know anything other than that. Only time will tell!
