I think the "low post count" guys have totally missed the point.
ST 2 was released in 2004. ST 2.5 was released in 2007....the LAST tick update,
2.5.4 was in April of 2010 That is now 4 years ago. My point is, after 2.5 came out,
IK started the ST 3 coming soon scenario...it was VAPOR WARE. They showed pics of
them recording samples (which, incidently RESURFACED last year)...never came...
then they touted COMING SOON...then it really got good after 2.5.4. Then a few years ago...
the battle cry went out again...
ST 3 coming soon!.....THEN last year, early, we were told it would be out SOON.
Late last year we were told BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR, most likely NOVEMBER,
then we were told, before Dec 31st....or free plugins...which got dropped to free plugins
for Guitarpima (and I'm GLAD he got them).
This is an ONGOING and DELIBERATE misrepresentation....I don't care HOW you slice it
boys...
11 years for a version 2 to version 3 product cycle is ridiculous...sorry...just is...
I firmly believe that if Pro Tools had remained 32 bit, they'd never do anything
with this program, because it wasn't until Pro Tools went 64 bit, that they decided
to "do the do" That's just my thought, because all the other DAW's have been 64
bit for quite a while.
IK decided to go after the iDollar....and sell iCraps...that's great....but they continued
to neglect this product completely.....for YEARS.....not a year, or a month, but REALLY
for 11 years. The point upgrades were just to keep the program functional...and those
were few and far between.
I don't know about what YOU think you buy when you buy software...it's NOT a product that
you get and it's done. It's a LICENSE to use it. And that implies that, when you can't USE IT
anymore, then the license is DEAD, because you can't USE IT. They have EVERY OBLIGATION
to keep the Program USABLE to the Licensee....PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!! THAT is what software
companies DO. THAT is why EVERY COMPANY OUT THERE supplies patches and updates....
EPIC FAIL...end of story...bye bye...
