Addictive Drums - Original Release date: also late 2007/early 2008.  6 years also...been updated to 1.5, but
that's still 6 years to get to a new version.  FAR TOO LONG.

To be fair, they didn't just jump from v1 to the current, there have been somewhat consistent incremental updates that included x64 VST support, x64 AU support as well as AAX support. (all without charging)

My only pet peeve with them is online activation only...

gustabo, very true..but still, you have to admit, 6 years without making a full version increment is
far too long...

(said jokingly) It's hard to improve on perfection?

At least they don't have the vapors.....

Amen to that Gusabo.  At least they haven't been been claiming for 4 years that it's
"right at the front door"...

Someone should open the front door. It's cold outside.

Superior Drummer 2 - Original Release date:  06/2008  6 years since an upgrade...there have been "point" updates...
FAR TOO LONG.

Didn't SD2 go 64bit a couple of years ago?  Also, not sure what kind of upgrade one would like/expect in SD2.  Perhaps a tape sim?  What are you looking for from SD?  Just curious.

Sony Acid- They added an element to the DAW world that has since been adapted and surpassed by...EVERYBODY.  It's kind of odd that the best programs to use acidized files is not acid.  The last upgrade was so meh that i skipped it.

I think it is because ACID never did very well. Sony really doesn't seem to care about it much anymore. Vegas is their big business, since it synergizes with their camera division which is huge. Sound Forge is also big for them, being one of the only real pro audio editors left on the market. ACID just doesn't do much business.

ACID by far - takes the cake for the 'left-to-rot' category.

It's a damn good product. I really like it's interface, and it's counterpart in Vegas - so much so I started wailing when they started mucking it up there.

Just in this regards, listen to BFD 3 now.  Those samples are amazing.  Technology doesn't just "Sit still"
There is always room to improve your product, add features, and make MORE MONEY.

I seriously seriously seriously don't get the "well it's usable" why bother with an update mentality?
Improving and updating your product is beneficial for the USER and the COMPANY.  It's a WIN-WIN.

Why do you think Cake has gone to a 1 YEAR Product Cycle?  It keeps revenue flowing, and the end
user benefits by keeping current with technology!!!  We just got VST 3 and ARA in Sonar.  Sure
we could have used X2 for few more years the way it was, but, for the sake of the CUSTOMER
(see what a novel idea that is) Cakewalk continues to update the product and add current tech.

For me, ACID looks like a FREE software.  It's interface looks like Audacity, etc.  THAT doesn't effect
the usability of the product, that's for sure, it just doesn't have "Curb Appeal" LOL
