James,

It can vary depending on the project. But in fact I try to get it right before the master bus so that I don't have to do too much there.

I'm curious why you say Slate is just compression and limiting. What about the two "EQ" knobs and the Dynamics knob. They can be your overall friends too.

Like our strikinglyhandsome1, I'll not win mastering engineer of the day (let alone year). So probably big M Mastering is not what I do, I'd call it little m mastering.

You know, I watched the training videos but they were very vague on the EQ and Dynamics - perhaps they can affect the sound more than I give them credit. Will revisit, thanks!

You'll find this about "most" training videos...they will cover the bare minimum to get
you an idea...but the rest is up to you...finding something down and dirty and in-depth...
not very often...it's all about the Benjamins...keeping you in suspense for the "next" tut...

I notice T-racks deluxe on Kvr for $40. Bit of a steal that.

I still have Ozone4 and use that for mainly making sure the bass frequencies are in the middle and sometimes the multiband comp. For limiting I use FG-X and am very happy with it. I thought the two knobs were for transients for mainly kick and snare and in those frequency ranges. I also really like the metering on it.

Juan, if you don't already have it, you should have bought it at JRRShop
and got the free EZmix Lite or EZDrummer Lite for 17 cents more...

Otherwise the PluginDiscounts deal was better by $3....not a lot...but $3 savings over a year
adds up to another plugin

So Bapu,
Last night I kept Ozone on a track but compared it's maximixer/loudness module to FGX and was pleasantly surprised! I played with the dynamics knobs and while I could hear the bass affect, the detail was a bit harder to discern. With some careful A/B and some tweaking, I really liked the FGx over the Ozone loudness module in this informal test.

Thanks for causing me to re-explore this plugin!
