The Coffee House Band's website uploads 320kbps mp3's.

Of course we had to get the domain, host it and build it to our own specifications.

I sensed you would say that, but that's what makes it 20-40% better, ya?

You know, I have thought about switching to You Tube myself, but I could never quite figure out from first glance how to load up audio. I seem to remember seeing where to load a video, but not the audio. Do you have to install a video or picture first before the audio? Dumb questions I know, it is probably something obvious that I was missing.

You have to create a video and add your audio as the soundtrack. It's actually very easy to do with the free Windows Movie Maker http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/movie-maker

You don't have to create a video, you can just use a still image. Then you add the song as a soundtrack. I think it's pretty straight forward to work out how to do it within WMM, although there are plenty of instructions online. Just make sure you do everything at the highest quality so that you end up with a 1080p video (actually I think you get the best YouTube audio quality at 720p or higher although I'm not 100% on this).

I signed up with Bandzoogle for my website, very easy to use and edit. Can upload 320kbps MP3's and I got my own '.com' included.

Are there any free music hosting sites that actually play/stream wave files?

None that we could find back when we created our website. If they exist they have to operate on the premise that each song is typically 5 times larger storage for a .wav vs. a .mp3 (even more if you factor in a 128kbps mp3).
