I've got another review up, with another brand new piece of music. This time I'm covering iZotope's BreakTweaker. It's pretty freaking cool and a lot of fun to work with. As always, I'd love to hear your feedback, so let me know how you liked the review, the demo song, and any thoughts about the This Thing Rules series!

On of the features of BreakTweaker is the ability to import your own WAV or AIFF samples.
 
This feature is not covered in any review I have read or any of iZotope's tutorials etc.
 
I wonder how useful it would be with vocal samples, a "oh yeah" sample pitch shifted and stuttered, micro edited etc.
 
Your review did not cover the generator much at all, and there is ton of power in there even starting with a simple sine wave synth tone and going to tweaker on it.
 
I will probably pick this plugin up this weekend or before the sale is over for the reduced price.
 
However, your review is extremely generic in reviewing this plugin.  I think you could have covered some of the other features and put a bit more into it.

Well like I said in the review I mostly dug into the Sequencer and MicroEdit and didn't really play much with the Generator mainly because it's the part that I personally am least interested in. There's a great selection of included kits to work with, and while I may eventually find the need to start creating my own sounds in there, I definitely didn't for the purpose of the review (and I also wanted to get the review out quickly while the software is fresh and new).
 
Also another point is that this series is more about how I use the product in creating a track, rather than a full all-encompassing review. There are many sites out there that do complete breakdowns reviewing ever facet, where as mine is (at least as far as I've seen) the only series where a review accompanies a piece of music created with the software.
 
But thanks for your feedback. Maybe I'll do an update once I've had a chance to play with the Generator and also importing wavs. I'm sure the way the MicroEdit works would be absolutely killer for stuttering and shifting vocal samples. I haven't gone back to update an article yet, but no reason why I couldn't consider it in the future...

I mention the import ability in my SWA BreakTweaker tutorial although I didn't go in to great depth with that ability. The generators and micro editor were covered in detail though.
 
It's not the sort of instrument that I personally would use a lot but for modern music styles I think it has huge potential and ability.

Yea definitely it's for some very specific genres. I'm gonna watch your video overview when I get a chance. If this was Facebook and I could just "like" your comment Karl, I would. Haha.

I was hoping fxpansions geist gets a boost since this is about now..
 
I mucked around with it, but as I have geist and battery and fx also am finding tricky to justify the cost.

a lot of people have been mentioning geist which i haven't checked out myself, but i use battery all the time, and it's totally a different product. but like (i think) i said up above, it's a very specific product too. for anyone looking to make crazy glitchy drum patterns, you certainly can't do in battery the way you can do it in breaktweaker. but that being said, i love battery and use its kits all the time for more traditional beats.
