Capcha! Please Get Rid of it. Seriously. How many robots plague this forum?

It's really, really, really, really inconvenient. It often takes me up to SIX tries to get on because the Capcha words are INDECIPERABLE.

I can honestly say in the seven years I have been a member I have never once had a problem with being able to read it, just the odd brain to finger malfunction, so does that make me very lucky, you very unlucky or one of us needing glasses ?? ;)

FYI, until recently there actually was a lot of spam threads, so I can't see it being removed any time soon.

I think I've only had to deal with it twice.  Ever.

Which is also how many times I've seen this new pop-up "message" today after coming here:

Yeah, why would anyone want to do that?

I agree. Though it is not too much of a problem here.. on some sites I actually have to give up after getting new words over and over that I just cannot read. I have had to sign in here multiple times more than once. There is a workaround here. You can backpage and not have to fill in so much crap if you make a mistake.

Agree...

The numbers are OK, but I do have a bit more trouble with the "words".

Agree! It isn't a problem with "glasses", it's just more difficult for some than others because of the way our brains work. I really hate Capcha and am disappointed that CW decided to implement it here - there is certainly other spam protection available to forums.

Why even log out, unless you're using multiple accounts? I love the convenience of cookies and being able to stay logged into my favorite sites. I hate it when I try and access my Gmail account only to find it's logged me out and wants the damn password again.

Some confusion here. Just because you do not have to type a password every time you log in does not mean that you are never logged out. Your session is over (you are logged out) whenever you break your browser connection to the site. What you do by asking the site to "remember" you is to create a cookie with login credentials on your system that the site calls up when you connect to start a new session. You are then automatically logged in again for a new session. For a site like this there is no real security issue with doing it this way. If someone breaks into your house and logs in to the Coffee House as you there is very little harm that could result. Different story for you online bank accounts sites. So you can avoid most of the captcha crap.
