They've also got a DIY kit that's only $88 Large. All you need is a decent soldering iron and a little
free time.

It comes with Electrical Tape too!!!

Actually that doesn't seem much, well as long as I can pay in Zimbabwean Dollars!! Being in Cape Town I can get my hands on lots of them. Before everyone gave up on it, the last exchange rate was a couple of trillion zim dollars to a small loaf of bread I believe - do you think the guys at SSL would realize this???????

are people really buying these?  I understand the name, but they're selling a handful, world wide?  I don't get out of my cave too often to notice.

or is it the rich kids in Californication, picking these things up?  I'm kinda half serious, in asking?

They'll sell more than you'd think worldwide. There are still a goodly number of facilities that have to have such to draw the "top tier" clientele.

Yeah...I totally understand that.  I realize also that $100K isn't that much to many people as well.  I work in the yachting business, and that just starts to buy some boats.

I have a local studio owner friend, that basically opened his wallet to his Sweetwater rep, from Focal TwinB's to a nice selection of channels strips, comps, routed thru RME, ....etc.  I know he dropped some cash for a "mid level" studio, but it IS paying off, as he is getting a chunk of customers because of it.  Expensive "advertising" though.  I think my Sonar kicks his stripped down version of PT11.  He can't afford his new plugs now, after the Manley's, Royers and custom furniture.....etc.

and to continue on that thought...If I was dropping that kind of coin on that kind of item, I live too close to Nashville to buy something like that new.  Too many HD interfaces roaming around looking for homes. I have to think the name is costing $30,000 as well.  Some consoles when you get into that price range, really don't sell that many.  I'm guessing maybe a lifespan with a total run of 100 sometimes ??  and that's a big run.  But..... I don't know...I don't manage the books for companies like that.

I think some of the stuff costing half that, sees a lot more production.  Albeit live sound...stuff like the Yamaha MC7L was probably selling like hotcakes.
I know Behringer was making the X32 at a rate of something crazy like one every three minutes...  but that's the price of a "happy meal" nowadays in Californication !! ;-)
