We're buried here in Detroit, and we didn't get the worst of it.

Today the temp will drop to -17.....it was 14 when I shoveled this morning (for the 4th time)

Gotta love Michigan!  NOT!

UGH. That's a lot of snow. I think we are going to get what you already had but maybe a little less of of it.

I put in a heat pump last year. It is designed to heat well into the low 20s or teens. It isn't designed for weather like this. I sized the backup heat for temps in the high teens. I should have gone bigger. The backup will knock the chill out of the place but it won't keep up in single digits. Today I'm going  to light off my coal again, even if only for a few days.Looks like Wed. Things will be back to more typical temps. We got down to 3F the other day and using my gas fireplace and another infrared heater we kept things toasty until it got better.

I'm glad I don't live where Soens lives. Now that's COLD! Michigan wouldn't be my first choice that's for sure. If we are into global warming It hasn't gotten to this part of the globe yet.

Yep. Northern Indiana here. It's -18 here right now, the wind chill is almost -40, and we've got over a foot of snow. Global warming??? Not thinking so...

hehe, global warming is changing all the weather patterns.
that's why it's different than it has been.
it's just science and data gathering.

Yup, Michigan is SWAMPED. I had to shovel my driveway twice yesterday, and both my cars got stuck at the end of the street.

I saw on the news there`s a tough winter in North America, hope you keep warm over there .

Here it`s been raining the last two weeks, so not much winter here yet.

We have had warmer summers here the last few years...is this the trend, warmer summers and colder winters?  Usually a southern air stream pushes the colder air north of us but not this time. Seems to be kind of like a domino effect. Throw one thing off kilter and other things follow.

Today's high is about -11 if it gets there. Last night the wind chill factor was at -47 at the coldest.
The heck with the snow, in 3 minutes or about 10 minutes depending on temp you can get frostbite if not all covered.
A lot of places are not even open and tonight the same thing. Tuesday it may get above zero and better after this Arctic Chill Blast. Like summertime in Antarctica!
Yuck!

Some people though had power go out. About 50 left to hook up still. Hope it works out, and I suppose across this Nation, give the outside workers praise for working on it. They quit plowing the streets last night but going out again this morning. Besides all the people having accidents and cars probably not starting.
