But Hugh Padgham Big Fill Kit for BFD2

The "Hugh Padgham Big Fill Kit" is a sampled drum kit with uniquely massive vintage ambient tone featuring a fat kick and snare along with the famous "barking toms" sound in the style of Phil Collins songs like "In The Air Tonight" and "I Don t Care Anymore".  Hugh Padgham is a legendary producer/engineer who has worked with artists such as Genesis, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Sting, The Police and many more. One of the most famous sounds he is known for is that BIG drum sound from the 80s heard on albums like Peter Gabriel's "Melt Face" 3rd album, Phil Collins Face Value and Hello I Must Be Going albums and Genesis Abacab and the Genesis "Mama" album. Sonic Reality took a trip to Surrey, England with Hugh Padgham to go back into Genesis studio called "The Farm" to capture this amazing drum sound in the studio's unique "stone room" recorded an the SSL™ console. The same studio and engineer that produced countless hits in the 80s, 90s and beyond is now captured as part of Hugh's new drum sample library with Sonic Reality, the Hugh Padgham Big Fill Kit!

Actually BFD3 helped me in that regard immensely. The included kits are so good, I really don't care for what I've heard out of expansions. I actually decided to get one. It was on a heavy sale and like $30, so I said why not? Well "why not" is because the included samples are so far superior there's no way I'll make use of it.

It is extremely hard to stack up to what BFD3 ships with, which makes me less interested in buying more.

I have to agree with that you'll struggle to find better kits out there as good as those that come with BFD3, but that said it does depend to a large extent on what your preferred genre is. FXpansion have quite a wide variety of kits like their excellent 8 bit kit to name but one that you won't find anything close with the BFD3 kits.

It's all about variety and as much as I like platinum samples kits I don't love them all.
I got the Andy Johns Classic and the Joe Baressi kits recently and I'm really (I mean seriously) NOT a fan of metal or heavy rock which these kits are obviously made for so I don't think I'll find much use for them

Which begs the question, why *DID* you buy them?

l guessed someone would ask.

l was asked by Rail to download the BFD3 installers to see if there were any issues so l got lucky.
its funny but they both sound very processed to me and thin.

Funny, I love those expansions. I think evil drums is my favorite of all expansion packs for all drums vstis. I think I have every or almost every expansion for BFD, SD 2, SSD 4 and have dozens of drum products for Kontakt. Yes I have a problem. :)

Ah, but as well do you have all but two EZDrummer packs, all Voxengo kit pieces, Studio Cat Purrfect Drums, Bluenoise Plugins Rock and Metal kits, Ocean Way Drums for Infinite Player, all Addictive Drums expansion packs and Jamstix 3 plus all expansion packs (including Jamcussion)?

If so, welcome brother.

Yes on ezdrummer packs, studio cat( which I never use, I think I have 2 sets of Jim's drums actually), ocean way infinite player, ocean way gold , (before infinite player), sonic reality drum masters gold, a boatload of other sonic reality infinite player kits from various group buys, epik drums, drumcore 3 with 4 preordered, jamstix 3 with all expansions, a bunch of acousticasamples kits, all NI Abbey road series vintage-modern sets, studio drummer, drumasonic 2 and drumasonic luxury.

I actually had all of Addictive Drums paks as of 2 years ago, but that's one of two drum plugins I've ever sold (other was linplug rmiv). I couldn't get into AD, I thought the sound was so weak compared to everything else I have.

I haven't tried bluenoise. Also have my eye on analogue drums. I like the sound of the demos.

Nice to know I'm not alone out there :)

Bapu has me beat but I have got most of the EZx except the most recent two or three and the electronic. I have Custom & Vintage, Roots mallets and Brushes and Metal Foundry SDx. The Metal Foundry SDx has been my "go to " kit for a while, I probably use this more than the rest put together.

I have got Steven Slate Platinum, which I never seem to use. Neil Peart drums and a few others for Kontakt (Waves Factory Tea towel Drums are nice)

And Now BFD 3. As others have said, the factory kits are exceptional, I just need to get more familiar with the interface.

I fired up Addictive Drums a few times since getting it with Sonar X3 and it did not grab my attention, I guess its decent enough and has a low footprint but I got it shortly after BFD3

Finally I will upgrade my Kitcore to the lite version of the new 64 bit Drumcore 4, I am doing this mainly for more unusual kits, the Luis Conte percussion and the decent midi loops, which are in a propriatory format until you drag them to a track. I already made the advance purchase to get the voucher and I will probably use that on their 40's Kit.
