X2 release news states that there were some improvements made for VS-700, supposedly documented in the online help but not to be found anywhere ...
 
I'm still on X1d ...
 
So I wonder how many of you did go for X2 already? Especially now that others are thinking about leaving for PT10) ...

No, it's broken a number of things, and we're still waiting for a fix. It's pretty disappointing.

Really it is past the waiting game by now surely? We're at XTWO!

They'll get their wish coz we are already starting to go away.

Yup all I know is I've wasted close to 5G's Canadian on a system that does nothing promised. All this after Roland and cakewalk reps up here touted such a great system which would be around for a long time. Then BOOM! the next release and my A$$ is exposed. I'm seeing ppl who don't have the VS system getting responses but when ppl with they system put reports in the majority if not all of them hear nothing. This was probably one of my dumbest moves. I love the system X1 AND PROBABLY x2 are great if all you want to use are a mouse and keyboard.

So what works and what doesn't work?

There are many reasons why you yourself mix with 8.5 and don't use X1 or X2 for the mix stage.

Remember the main reason you bought a surface, the mixing.... what's in that thing you're smoking?

Mully you just gave me an idea ....never tried 8.5 since the X1D wak Vs700 update ..... will see if the display slow motion thing happens ....

But don't forget that the slow display update probably came as a result of that (in X1d):

Bus Selection

You can now select buses from the console
Most recently active track/bus is recalled when switching between Track/Bus control on the surface



Track Selection Sync

Changing current track in SONAR now updates the console’s selected track. So this now works both ways. In other words:
Selecting a track in SONAR will result in the Console SEL updating (New behavior)
Pressing SEL on the Console will result in a track in SONAR becoming selected

To be honest, that delay is no show stopper for me at all. Although it can be annoying at times, I'd prefer they concentrate on other things first.

I know what you're saying and I agree. My point is, if you have better mixing capabilities with the Console in 8.5.3, move your tracks over there to mix rather than rant in a forum over things that aren't what you want. I'll ask again, what works and what doesn't? Feature requests aren't bugs. I have yet to see a list of what doesn't work. 

I would have thought that just the lack of integration was reason enough? Trying to eq on this thing now for one example is now a waste of money/time and makes you wonder why they release a new platform with this broken in it and suggest all is 'tighter'. Does there actually need to be a list? Cake don't even use the 700 anymore so is there really a point in yet another list? I am certainly not under any illusion of their priority for this gear now...X2 already remember.

Rant? I've seen real rants and I'm not in that league (yet?) because I'll bail out before before it drives me that crazy. At the rant stage there is surely no hope so why keep bothering. Apologies though if the tone seems out of order as apart from some late night frustration, it is not the purpose.

You may be right though, might be seriously worth facing the reality and just biting the bullet and try another paddock because I used to always be very positive about Sonar. I don't enjoy this vibe at all.
