I, personally, think it will be GREAT to get all the effects that I already
paid good money for AGAIN, and PAY MORE FOR THEM!!!

That always makes me feel better about paying more!

The current price is 60% of what SampleTank 2 cost back in 2003 when it was first released.

As if that matters in today's economy. Today $299 is a boatload of money for most us I can tell you that.

I have not yet jumped ship on ST3 but the upgrade price better be darned attractive or you've lost one customer. And $249, $199 or $179 just ain't attractive to me.

You're missing the BIG picture.

Just imagine the value for that one hermit that never owned ST2.

Doubt I will buy this for a long time.  I just got the upgrade to Kontakt 5 last month; I had Kontakt 4 for over 6 years before upgrading and I waited, and waited and just got it bundled in K9Ultimate.  I want to explore it before confusing me with a different sampler.  Given that Kontakt 5 regularly was available for $98 as an upgrade, I would not even consider ST3 unless it's upgrade price is at least as competitive in price and even if it is available at that price I will wait.  Also, I want to hear what others see and hear in it and to see how stable it is.  Like many here, I have waited this long, I can easily wait some more; I am just not in a hurry to get it any more.  Shoot, I even waited until last week to upgrade to Ozone5 and that was for $79.  But that is apples compared with oranges.  Still, what I mean is that the price will really need to be competitive.

I do admit that the new ST3 GUI (as seen on MF link) does look much more readable and that feature will be welcomed.  From what I gleaned over at the KVR countdown thread there will not be a free player version for a while.

I do wish IKMultimedia success with this.  For now, I am happy with Kontakt 5 and I will and can wait a little longer.

If I could use my $68 in Jam Points (hahahahahahahahahahahaha dream on bapu) I'd pay as high as $149 as an upgrade price.

If not $79 is the max I'd pay as an upgrade price.

I'm a little away from things at the moment, so a serious question - did they announce ST3 and a release date for it yet??
I tried this link
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/ik-multimedia-sampletank-3
It seems to have been removed.
Thanks

The latest Arsebook countdown to ST3 post says 24th Jan. I assume they will have a big launch at NAMM.

  • 17 instrument and effect plug-ins with true surround support
  • 1548 Patches for Audio, Auxiliary, Software Instrument, and Output tracks
  • 3647 Apple Loops covering electronic genres: Hip Hop, Electro House, Dubstep, Modern R&B, Tech House, Deep House, and Chillwave
  • 848 EXS24 Sampler instruments
  • 3655 plug-in settings for 85 plug-ins
  • 30 Ultrabeat electronic drum kits with 750 unique drum sounds
  • 666 reverb spaces and warped effects for Space Designer
  • 32 groove patterns for Arpeggiator MIDI plug-in

That's a fraction of what you get for $199 when you buy Logic - a little 35 GB of content, for the biggest part, eminently usable, btw... From that perspective, it seems a bit ridiculous to spend hundreds of dollars on a plug-in or a bread and butter sample library...

I might grab the free version to play the old ST libraries which I haven't converted if they have one.
