I got an email today from the Cakewalk folks. Twenty dollars off any purchase from the Cakewalk store before December 31.
Including X3 upgrades... but does that mean upgrading from X3a to X3c or to X3 Studio or Producer? Or does it mean upgrades from earlier Cakewalk products to X3?
In other words, will I be able to get X3 for $29 after the coupon is redeemed?
I realize ya'll may not know the answer, but maybe a baker will chime in before the offer expires.

I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but I did go as far as filling up the shopping cart.  The code gave me $20 off on upgrading from X2-PE to X3-PE.  Then it gave me another $20 off for the media.

I would have gone through with the deal, but it was late and I was tired.  I didn't want to mess up the transaction.  I may go for it today.

It's supposedly for any product Cake has exclusive rights to so I'd imagine that would include an upgrade. Just put the purchase through, use the code and see if it knocks $20 of the final total. If not get a hold of support because I'm pretty sure they'd want you to have X3 and I see no reason why this promo wouldn't work toward that goal.

I haven't had too much time to play around with X3 but from what I've done so far I'd say this one is something for Cake to be proud of.

And thanks for reminding me about this. I gotta remember to this tomorrow (and now this thread will remind me). I'm in far too much pain today and have to get ready for an excursion into the big bad world tomorrow so I'm trying to remain as still as possible.

Lemmy is keeping me sane and entertained as I wait for the muscles to quit being jerks. Inspiring fellow. Sadly after watching the newest doc about him I don't think he's long for this world. Kind of has the feel of the interviews Johnny Cash did in the final years. Guy is freaking diabetic with a pacemaker and still slamming Jack and Cokes and sucking back the smokes and dog knows what else. I really hope I'm wrong because I want to meet that crazy old bastard before he spreads his demon wings and flies away into the night.

But that's a little OT. Seriously I see no reason why the coupon wouldn't apply. You should at least get studio though. Much more bang for the buck.

I haven't been in a big rush to upgrade because I need to upgrade my PC to take advantage of the new features.  With the extra $20 off, it's hard not to jump on it.

Huh... what features won't work on your rig? The Melodyne stuff? I haven't gotten a chance to try that out yet myself. Looks cool though.

Still the core of the program is much better IMO from my initial experience so if you have X2 running it should still be a step up just as far as the core DAW. Just a lot smoother and more pleasurable to work with. At this point of usage with X2 I had experienced kind a few little quirks and bugs and a lot of graphical nonsense. Haven't had a single thing go weird (that wasn't my own fault for being a spazz) with X3 so far and I haven't changed a thing on my system. A hardcore editing session will be the true test though... especially in regards to audiosnap. I've only been doing some scratch tracks and arrangement type editing.

I've really got too much stuff 600GB of softsynths, I don't need anymore...I don't even want anymore!

Oh, yeah. I really didn't need any of that extra stuff (as I mentioned a few times and got dogpiled over a couple times) but X2 was driving me insane with the constant disruptions and wackiness. Like I said the DAW itself is just a lot smoother so far which is what I needed. I already had all the top synths because of the X1 Suite and although Addictive Drums is very nice (I've been using it on my current project just to try it out) I own BFD Eco which I prefer (but IDK... AD is giving it a run for it's money).

As far as the effects... well I'm really happy with the PC stuff and kind of scoffed at the Nomad stuff but I've played with a few of those too and darned if I don't like them. It has some specific models that I had seen in a lot of tuts (obviously the higher end versions but they still operate the same) and wanted to try out. Like the Pultec style EQ. That's not the type of thing I'd really go out of my way to pay for at the moment but getting those alternate effects is quite nice.

Meh... I was pretty ticked off for a while but I gotta say, I'm feeling like Cake made good on this and really the DAW itself is where it should be which is all I truly cared about.

Hopefully that doesn't come across fanboi-ish because things really were getting dicey there for a while and I was ready to jump ship in a major way. Fortunately that doesn't seem necessary now.

You guys are more seasoned than I am though so you don't need my opinions. Just bored and blathering.

Of course if you want to use the coupon to upgrade X2 to X3 then yes it makes complete sense!

Heh. I totally misinterpreted your post. Sorry. If I actually had some extra money I'd probably put it towards the CL Limiter but I don't and the list of stuff it'll work for I either have already or don't really need. I'm probably just going to upgrade my PC2A to the full VST version. Not sure how much more useful that'll be to me but what the heck, eh? ;-)

No sorry required Beepster my apologies!

I was just reminding myself that it's about time I wrote some decent music with all the ( scared to even think about the cost ) softsynths and 2 hardware synths I already own.
