I have the latest version of POD Farm (Platinum I think....) and have been using the line 6 Tonport Gold DI box as my audio interface since 2007. Lately, this DI box has been a bit buggy (dropping out audio drivers in Sonar) in Win 8 (although it's supported). So, I just purchased a Focusrite 2i4 which works effortlessly and I'm happy with it. Only thing I noticed was that the tones seemed a bit thinner with the Focusrite than with the Toneport.....but, I havn't spent enough time with the new interface.

My problem is that when running POD Farm (using the Focusrite), the majority of the presets amps/cabs/fx etc...are unavailable now because I'm using another interface other than Line 6's. If I pick any particular preset, it does show all the gear used for that tone, but only a few of the items are active (the greyed out gear shows as unavailable). Of course, I can choose a different amp/cab or whatever that's missing from a list of other amps/cabs, but I did like a lot of their presets which I generally tweaked to my taste.
I suppose I'm just really dissappointed that POD Farm excluded sooooo much gear that I was so comfortably using and expected them to be there when I needed them.

Is there a fix for this so I can use the presets like they were intended to or do I just have to start using alternate gear within POD Farm?  I do like this software and don't really want to look for an alternate, but I'm certainly open to options as well......(I'd like to find a fix for this before looking for another).

UPDATE: I searched the internet and found this.....

If you.....
a) Buy it for ilok, you can use it with any audio interface you like. (the ilok holds your licence)
b) buy the Line 6 hardware independent version and you can still use any audio interface you like, but, you must have your line 6 product connected you your computer and switched on. (line 6 device store licence)

unless they've changed it, the standalone version only works with the line 6 hardware. Everything else works via plugin

I did buy the DI box (which works as a dongle/iLok) that holds my license, and all my testing was been done in Standalone. Looks like I'll have to keep the Toneport DI plugged in and use the Focusrite as my interface. (I did like noodling in standalone and which has been my inspiration to record........looks like my inspirations need changing).

Since I already have an iLok I just went with that for POD Farm 2.5.

I also have an iLok, but my PF 2.5 was included (via an upgrade) with the Toneport interface. If I had bought PF seperately, then I could use it with any interface..........oh well......I'll just see how this pans out in useage.

The hard part in adjusting to all of this is, I usually get my tones first before recording.

I had a similar experience Mesh and it was really disappointing. I bought a UX1 a couple of years ago and it came with a free copy of POD Farm. I used PD Farm all the time as my "go to" amp sim. Last year I decided to upgrade my interface to one of the higher end Focusrite Scarlettes and I found out that PF was tied to my UX1 even though they advertise PF as no longer being linked to a piece of hardware. My response from Line 6 was that I had to now pay for a copy of PF because the version I got with the UX1 was free.

If I was going to have to pay for a full version for it to work on any interface, it seemed like a good time to switch; and I did.

I should add that I have an 8i6 and a 2i4 in the Scarlette's. I have not used the 2i4 yet for recording guitar or bass, but instead, have been using the 8i6.  At first it just didn't sound right or as good as the Line 6 unit as a guitar direct in.  About half way into my second song recording, I noticed that I had never engaged the instrument button on the unit and was only plugged in as a line in; not as High Z.  After that discovery....it sounds great.

Yeah, it's dissapointing Mike.
IIRC, I paid something like $29.99 (about 5 years ago) to upgrade to PF Platinum. I should check with them and see what they say about this.....(not really expecting anything positive, but who knows....).

I would think you could transfer you license to the iLok Mesh. Seems trivial to me for them to do that. Maybe offer to send them the old device as proof you're not trying to pirate the stuff.

Thanks Bapu, I'll check on the iLok transfer thingy. I'd like to keep the DI box and use it on a second PC for my daughter to learn Sonar.....(and hopefully, she'll teach me something)

Yea Mesh, great idea to contact them. I had a similar issue last year with them. I purchased the gold bundle when I had my UX2. I forgot about it until last year, I emailed them and was told I would have to upgrade to get it to work in Pod farm 2, but they sent me a link so I could DL Pod farm 1. Everything works in Pod farm 1 but is 32 bit only I think.
I'm actually not a huge fan of their tones but I really like some of the internal FX for some things.

OT, BTW I ended up getting BF4 through Origin, an application very much like steam, at first I experienced some of the issues that folks were complaining about at first, then I found the 64 bit exe. Just wow, if you had any doubts about that, your card and machine would eat that game for lunch and want more.

Good news!!

Last night, I tried plugging in my Toneport and wanted to see if I'd get back all the presets/amps/cabs/FX's etc... and viola, it's all there!!! I also confirmed (in POD Farm) that I'm using the Focusrite as my hardware interface, and that also was a YES!!!

With this setup, I have no problems using an additional USB port (even though it'll be just a bulky dongle) just to have my tones back!!! So, you guys can also try this out and keep your "older" interface plugged in to get PF working.

That's great Grant!! I also have Origin for Crysis 3, and a couple of free ones from their site. I'm also thinking about getting BF4 (hopefully on sale) and it's good to know about the 64 bit exe. How are you liking the game overall? Are you playing single player or multi?
I heard there some really good mods out there for these games, but still haven' tried out on any yet.....have you done anything like that?

Right now I'm on the SP campaign and practicing the air, sea and land vehicles in the test range.  I think I will be going online multi with it, a lot of my friends play it online on Xbox and playstation, they all assure me I really haven't played it until I've played the multi. I also went for "Need for Speed Gear" and will be getting Crysis 3 soon.

Also picked up 2 "Air Conflicts" games from Steam over the holidays and loving them.

Don't be surprised if you find me joining one of your battles sometime.  My login on both is ohgrant but for a while deadmeat might be a more suitable handle. :) See you there sometime.
