I have the latest version of POD Farm (Platinum I think....) and have been using the line 6 Tonport Gold DI box as my audio interface since 2007. Lately, this DI box has been a bit buggy (dropping out audio drivers in Sonar) in Win 8 (although it's supported). So, I just purchased a Focusrite 2i4 which works effortlessly and I'm happy with it. Only thing I noticed was that the tones seemed a bit thinner with the Focusrite than with the Toneport.....but, I havn't spent enough time with the new interface.
My problem is that when running POD Farm (using the Focusrite), the majority of the presets amps/cabs/fx etc...are unavailable now because I'm using another interface other than Line 6's. If I pick any particular preset, it does show all the gear used for that tone, but only a few of the items are active (the greyed out gear shows as unavailable). Of course, I can choose a different amp/cab or whatever that's missing from a list of other amps/cabs, but I did like a lot of their presets which I generally tweaked to my taste.
I suppose I'm just really dissappointed that POD Farm excluded sooooo much gear that I was so comfortably using and expected them to be there when I needed them.
Is there a fix for this so I can use the presets like they were intended to or do I just have to start using alternate gear within POD Farm? I do like this software and don't really want to look for an alternate, but I'm certainly open to options as well......(I'd like to find a fix for this before looking for another).
UPDATE: I searched the internet and found this.....
If you.....a) Buy it for ilok, you can use it with any audio interface you like. (the ilok holds your licence)b) buy the Line 6 hardware independent version and you can still use any audio interface you like, but, you must have your line 6 product connected you your computer and switched on. (line 6 device store licence) unless they've changed it, the standalone version only works with the line 6 hardware. Everything else works via plugin I did buy the DI box (which works as a dongle/iLok) that holds my license, and all my testing was been done in Standalone. Looks like I'll have to keep the Toneport DI plugged in and use the Focusrite as my interface. (I did like noodling in standalone and which has been my inspiration to record........looks like my inspirations need changing).
