Be good to get a definitive answer on this. People say the latest version can be any interface and others say that's only if the Line6 hardware is used as a dongle or you have the iLok attached. Some say it can work independent but not if it's FireWire.

Not sure who says it will work with other interfaces, but they only sell two versions, one for their hardware and one for ilock. I'm pretty certain no other interface will work

It does work with any interface that much is on their site. I knew that. Just need to clarify the conditions.

Well I think you're mistaken, you might want to write their support to clarify.

It says any USB interface on the product page:

Hardware Independence.
Use POD Farm 2.5 with any USB audio interface.

I believe it depends on how PF was acquired.......via hardware or just purchased software (needing iLok). Either way, the licensing is locked into one of the two pieces of gear(at least that's my understanding.......).

I think the mistake could be due to the wording of the hardware version "POD Farm 2.5 (hardware independent)"
sounds like the opposite of what it is. system requirements for that is
Required Hardware:
Computer
GuitarPort
POD Studio GX
POD Studio KB37
POD Studio UX1
POD Studio UX2
PODxt
PODxt Live
PODxt Pro
TonePort GX
TonePort KB37
TonePort UX1
TonePort UX2

Yeah and the set up manual says this just to confuse it more

3rd Party Audio Interfaces
If you are to be using an audio interface from a manufacturer other than Line 6, the steps throughout the following sections are very similar for configuring your device. It is required that your audio device include a Core Audio driver (for Mac® applications) or ASIO® driver (for Windows® applications) for POD Farm, as well as for most DAW applications. Please refer to your device manufacturer’s documentation for specifics on its features and options. We’ve added some pointers in the following sections for things to configure for 3rd party devices as well.

My take was that you could use any USB interface as long as it was still dongled by Line6 hardware or the iLok version. Just wondered if anyone had used it with another USB device with neither of those attached?

Right now I'm on the SP campaign and practicing the air, sea and land vehicles in the test range.  I think I will be going online multi with it, a lot of my friends play it online on Xbox and playstation, they all assure me I really haven't played it until I've played the multi. I also went for "Need for Speed Gear" and will be getting Crysis 3 soon.

Also picked up 2 "Air Conflicts" games from Steam over the holidays and loving them.

Don't be surprised if you find me joining one of your battles sometime.  My login on both is ohgrant but for a while deadmeat might be a more suitable handle. :) See you there sometime.

I also could easily use "deadmeat" as login......most games take me awhile to get used to all the controls, but I do like a good fight and don't ever give up easily. My login name is Meshodman for both and I'm also just playing SP (so far).......I got COD (not Ghost....can't remember which, but an earlier one) for Christmas, but haven't installed it yet.

The only game I play online is TF2 (which I'm hooked). At first, it looked a bit "cartoony", but after I learned to use the skills of my fav character (Soldier), IT WAS ON!!!........There are still another 8+ characters I haven't played enough to do well, but the Soldier gets to blow up stuff and do a lot of dammage. :) You should join me in TF2.....it's free and a very good one....IMO.
