  • FLUX IRCAM TRAX Locks Up "Not Responding"

FLUX was running a half off promo on TRAX around Christmas and I couldn't resist.  I downloaded the program, installed it, activated the iLok license and opened it up in SONAR X2 Producer, inserted into a vocal track.  When I click on any function on the TRAX screen, a "Not Responding" message shows in the title bar.  FLUX has not responded to my request for customer support.  Any clues from other users?  I realize this is not a plug-in that everybody jumps on the bandwagon to purchase.  But, it's just what I need.  Windows 7 64-bit PC.

Sorry, tried to reproduce in X3. I could not.

BTW, are you on the latest 64bit version of TRAX?

FYI-Like you this is my main goto harmony generator. Brilliant tool, IMHO.

Brilliant, yes...but I've never warmed up to it. I paid too much for it and it hasn't earned it's keep...yet. But it works fine here. Like Bapsi, I can't reproduce your problem. Sorry.

Edit...remember (IIRC) Flux is in France...where the women wear no pants...so it may take a few days to get back to you.

Yar it were 'spensive. As I don't attempt to make a living at this musik thang I go on perceived value. I perceive it to be pretty useful.

I'm happy they finally got to 64bit too.

How, exactly, do you create harmonies with it? never even tried that.

One at a time. But for me I typically only do a single harmony from my lead vocal track.

I put a send on my main vocal track to a bus. The bus has TRAX. I use the transpose slider to set the interval. I export the bus to a mono .wav. I import the .wav and then melodyne to taste. Obviously an easier way would be to copy the vox to another track. Put TRAX on it. Bounce to a new track and melodyne that one.

Probably more work than other tools (like the Antares Harmony Generator in me AVOX Evo pack) but the quality is better IMO.

I used to just use the TRAX bus in the mix but not any more. I find that I do have to/want to melodyne to taste.

Is that what you're asking about?

Yup. And although a bit convoluted I can see how it would be better. Trax certainly let's you get more realistic sounding mutations...I once changed my voice to a female soprano and did an octave up backing track. Fooled my wife completely...she wondered "who the new girl singer was."

It works.  FLUX released their Version 3 build for TRAX (as well as other applications).  I downloaded the upgrade, and for the first time, TRAX works.  So that was only a 2 1/2 week wait.

This leads me to another question...if you use the Learn button in the Source panel, how long do you leave it engaged?

Thanks again.
