I get the whole "faster and easier" process. I respect that and wholeheartedly embrace that methodology. As much as I would like to spend every waking hour working on music composition/production, I need balance in my life, so better ways of doing things to get to the polished finished product "easier and faster" is always welcome in my world, and there are alot of great tools out there I don't even know about that would contribute to that end. Maybe that is why I dig into these threads...to learn about these advantages.

But, if you are unable to hear the mix correctly, then you can't mix it correctly, therefore resulting in a poorly mastered product, should you master it in the same space as you mixed it in, leaving you with some imperfections or audible differences...I think, remember I don't know anything about this and enjoy bouncing it around in my head and then discussing it with you knowledgeable and experienced members.

Having said that, there should be "some" audible credibility to the before and after. That I, as a newbie should be able to appreciate, and you as a much more experienced and knowledgeable member should be able to hear easily.

On the other hand, if you have learned how to use the tools you have, to get "around" the problem of not having a "sonically/audibly flat" working space or the correction SW then, you simply have to work harder and trust in your ability.

Having said that, that would leave a little more room for error, as the SW is not available to correct for the poor mixing space in the first place.

I am just trying to justify and sell this to myself...LOL.

I would still love to hear before and after...

UPDATE

"You Take It All"
https://soundcloud.com/bats-brew/you-take-it-all-1

1st mix attempt using ARC2, this is a working mix, not a finished song yet.

spectrum analysis:

so, here's the thing:
my previous mixes, and (2) album releases, have a very similar end result, as compared to this song mix; i know what i want to get in the end, and i always find a way to get it.

but

whereas in the past, to get a song mix right, i've had to rely on multiple mix sessions, analysis between sessions, multiple system playback, walking the room during mix sessions, and all this other PALAVA......
on THIS session, it was simple: one hour of sitting in one spot, the mix was 'easy', and when i was done, and ran the spectrum analysis, the curve of my mix, almost matched the final 'mastered' versions of my previous album releases.

big wow from me.

i'm not saying this mix is done, or that i'm totally happy yet....
only that, the software did exactly what it said it would do. it fixed some very stange (and typical) anomalies in my room.

and i can make mix decisions faster, easier, and apparently can trust what i'm hearing more than what i had before.

would love some feedback on how it is translating.
i'm continuing to experiment to dial my room in, with treatments, placement and this new room correction software.

i'll grab some screen shots of my actual ARC curve, and post those to go along with this.

now remember, this is a crummy soundcloud stream..
which is, i think, at 190 kbps?

i uploaded a full 16 bit 44.1khz wav file, and let soundcloud do it's thing to it.

if anyone wants the actual wav file to run thru their system to REALLY check for translation issues, i'll post a link.

A wav link would be great Bats, Soundcloud is the worst for me right now. It was one of the few and far between times that it played for a few seconds. I got to hear some real nice Acoustics in the intro but that was it. What I heard sounded great.
Also looking forward to reading your assessment of ARC from the view of someone already adjusted to their room situation

Bat,

THis is a pretty powerful report. I have watched Danny defend this software in the last several years, and have come very close to purchasing ARC. With this testimonial from you, on top of Danny's, I see this as a must have for me down the road.

I would jump on the sale right now, but I have a motherboard that I fear is giving out on me. It runs fine when it's running, but does not want to start back up after a full power down. It takes me 30 minutes of rebooting to start up again. Next sale, hopefully I will be in a position to purchase.
