Does anyone know if there's a way of having a direct mix pre-set load automatically? What I'm trying to do is have Sonar start up with the Direct Mix output set to "main" and already switched on. No matter what I do, it defaults to having no output selected. This is annoying, as it's the only thing stopping me controlling the direct recording process entirely from the console (In IO Control mode, I have the mic pres on the faders and the direct outputs on the encoders, so if I could get the main output to be pre-selected, I wouldn't have to open the IO control panel and fiddle around in there).

Hi John, I use the following to achieve this - all started "manually" by creating a shortcut for the VS-700R I/O Editor calling up a setup file. Due to having 2 I/O Units and finding that parameters all not set properly for both units from one file, I have created a second setup for Unit2. By calling Shell:StartUp and copying both shortcuts from my desktop into the startup folder shown, now each time I start my laptop the configuration is loaded and I am ready to go. A little diasadvantage is currently that the VS I/O Editor has to be closed, but I will try to resolve that one, too. Hope that someone from Cakewalk might add here, regarding the Unit1/Unit2 Setup Issue from a single file. And may be adding a way to close the VS700 I/O editor with a parameter, after the setup file has been loadad ... Hope this "workaround" might work for you, too. Pls let me know.
