I came in with X1 and only recently upgraded to VS-700. I don't feel as bad (yet) as some of you guys might be feeling but, admittedly, I don't make my living from working with Sonar ... With all the frustration in the posts from this forum I need to ask: Would 8.5 really be an alternative? Anybody still using it in parallel? Was it ever 64 bit? Where would you get a version from if you never owned it? Cheers Rob

You could get a copy of 8.5 PE from Cakewalk. You would have to call them and special order it.

Honnestly, for me at least, Sonar 8.5.3 was the most stable version of any software I've used to date.  At least the way I was using it it almost never crashed at all.

Yes it was 64 bits and there's A LOT you can do to your music with it!

I won't go back cause I'm always using the prochannel but I really miss it!

I'm with Dyo... I do miss 8.5 but what I've come to learn is that what I missed was the effortless way you could go about creating your mix... the integration just worked! This definitely outweighs the things about X1 that I liked.

I've got a project to finish for a band and am reverting to 8.5 to get it done... particularly if they come in coz the surface will make me look silly (more than normal?) under X1 when using the damn mouse all the time to get the job done with a beautiful looking surface just sitting there. Maybe hide it? Damn, they've already seen it.

Cheers.

I'm still using 8.5.3 on the DAW computer. I have X1 expanded on the other everyday computer, but it's no DAW. Too much carp software, Anti-Virus, and HP routines. I have been studieing it though. As soon as I can make the move to a bigger hard drive on the DAW I plan to have 8.5.3 and X1 Expanded on the C drive. I'll undoubtedly upgrade X1 to X2.

Crg this sounds about right to my ears... makes sense.

I'm thinking jumping into X1 via the 700C was a bit too big an expectation right now.

Cheers.
