It isn't actualy finished yet and there will only be 400 made. It is a copy of Santana's Budokan amp with a few new features, snakeskin leather covering... it looks really good and the review in GP is stellar. I like that they refer to it as a great "blues rock" amp. I have sort of been wanting a Mark for a couple of years, either a Mark III or a Mark V.. but this King Snake has my full attention. They are 2,500.00 for a 1x12 combo running at 100/60/10 watts, all signed by both Randall and Carlos (not that it matters) I may end up going with a Mark III since they can be had for under 1k, what around 750+ bucks...

Anyway, the King Snake looks to be a killer amp and I bet it will have a good resale value but I've been wrong before...

Personally if I win the lottery, I've got my eye on some of the Mark V's with figured wood cabinets:

Yep, my copy of Guitar Player was in the mailbox a couple of days ago. Cool amp, wish I had the bucks for that one. I really like the low wattage option.

No, I tend to avoid snakes.

Thought there are a plethora of other Mesa Amps that I really like.

Yeah, I really don't care one way or the other about the cabinet as long as it isn't covered with carpet. The amp itself looks like something I would like. I've just never used a Boogie so I don't know what I would like. I have talked to Greg Lisher and asked him about the amps used on most of the Monks of Doom records and they were Mark IIIs. They have a great clean tone, to my ears.. but the blurb in GP mag about the King Snake being a great bluse rock amp got my attention. I've come close to buying a Mark V but the number of knobs and switches scares me a little. I don't know about you but I can only tweak so much before I don't know up from down anymore.
I've been looking at the newer Fender Blues Jr amps with the different speakers, they get some good reviews... cheaper too!!
I also wonder if Mesa will make this King Snake amp with regular covering options, no signatures, etc. after the initial LTD run, for cheaper. I would if I were them.
I guess I need to head to the guitar store one day soon... I sure do miss MARS Music.

Thanks and sorry for causing any GAS...

I was wondering if that was the Boogie you had, Herb. I was checking them all out right after I read the article and then started surfing ebay a little to see what all the Boogies were running on the used market. I am a big fan of low wattage amps these days.

I have my eye on a 5w Marshall DSL that is supposed to have come out in December as well. I'm off until after Christmas and I'm going to try to wander up to GC and see if any have come in yet. I have wanted forever to replace my big heavy 50w combo with something smaller. I have already pulled 2 of the power tubes to cut it down to essentially a 25w amp. I just don't require a lot of amp these days.

OH MAN... I just found the MESA Royal Atlantic. I have sort of ignored MESA over the years because I just associated MESA with scooped metal music. The clips of this amp sound incredible... maybe I need a Mark V and a Royal Atlantic... and a part time job. I have really bad GAS for one or both of these. The RA goes from 100w to 3w.

I NEED them... it is a sickness.
