southpaw3473,

YES, You should take and use separate measurements for each of the monitor pairs.

master bus out : headphones
Master bus send to a bus with ARC 2
Bus with ARC 2 ouput : monitors

optionnal :

Master bus send (2) to bus with metering (you keep master fx bin clean )

How are you doing this? I haven't received my Arc2 yet but this is good to know. When I click on the master bus send there are no bus choices to send to, only my monitors and other outputs. How are you getting a send on the master bus to another bus? The master bus output does not see headphones as an output option. I can send the output of the arc bus to my monitors though.

In my mix template I have a master bus, and a  mains bus, which is the audio interface out. I just inserted a new bus and labeled it master. When adding new tracks or busses, Sonar automatically assigns their output to the master bus. I did this to not have my interface at full volume coming out of Sonar.

My interface (18i6) has 3 stereo outs. When my Arc2 arrives, I plan on adding a new bus called headphone mix that is assigned it's own audio out. Each bus is fed from the previous bus serially: Master>Headphone mix>Mains(Audio interface out). I plan on having Arc2 on the mains bus for my monitors. This will keep the master bus free to export audio from and have my headphone mix Arc free as well.

Templates are a must if you do audio work a lot. It makes everything much easier, quicker and helps foster creativity by having things ready to go when the idea strikes. That includes having ARC set up to go when creating a new project.

what i have done, is simply add a new bus called "ARC2", right next to my MASTER.

instead of routing MASTER directly to my sound card outputs (= MONITOR), i route MASTER to "ARC2", and route "ARC2" to the Monitor.

then, on bounce down (or export) i simply change the routing back to normal (Master >> Monitor) and shut off ARC2 in the effects bin of that bus.

works like a charm.

i monitor my levels in MASTER, and simply adjust the ARC2 levels to match what i'm hearing if i turn that plugin on and off.

I like the separate bus for the ARC and the master sent to ARC. Excellent idea and thanks for sharing that!!!

Sounds similar to mine, but I route Master out to another ARC Bus and that bus to different outputs. My mains go to my headphone amp. So headphones are clean and the ARC is always on the speakers for the other set up outputs.

Yes Obi, Yours is like mine in that I won't have to worry about cutting ARC on or off as it's on it's own bus that goes directly to my monitors. The headphone mix on a separate bus with different interface outs and the master bus untainted.
