So it's after the end of the year of 2013 and Sampletank 3 was not released, did the free serial numbers go to whoever was supposed to receive them?
 

It's very bizarre that when companies are silent they get bashed but if they interact they get bashed even more. Yes, I believe ST3 is playing catchup and I do have a wait and see approach, but give it a rest. Hats off to Obi for taking constant shooting of the messenger.

My post was not bashing, I just wanted to see if they kept their word and followed through with their promise to give, was it Guitarpima?, the free serials to TRacks and whatever else it was, maybe Amplitube?
That, to me, would be the sign of a good company.

it's not that Dub...it's the fact that they've been saying this same thing for about it for 4 years...it's coming..soon...blah blah blah.  Nothing of it is aimed at Obi.  He's just the Rep who comes to this forum, so, naturally, will get the "Lions Share" of the bashings.

SampleTank has been an EPIC failure on the part of IK, as well as the others in the ST line.  Not as a product, per
se, but as a "Flagship" sampler that has gone completely unsupported for 4+ years.  No updates...nothing.

Then they want to come in and "BLOW THEIR OWN HORN" about how great the new version is...when all the other
samplers in the business have had those things for years, been 64 bit for years, etc...and are vastly superior in
most aspects to the current offering, and probably vastly superior to ST3, as they've been at it longer.

Nothing bizarre about that at all...not even remotely bizarre.

The vast majority here like Obi, but, as the Rep, he gets the "low down"...even though it's not directed at him.
He also needs to be, as the Company Rep, a little more "on the game", and not saying "I'm told".  As a Rep for the company HE SHOULD KNOW, or say nothing.  Quite simple really.

Furthermore, I, specifically was promised by Obi that SampleTank 3 would be out before the end of the year.
Someone chimed in on MY thread that it wouldn't, and, consequently, was going to be "given" Product licenses.  I got nothing, even though it was MY THREAD.  That's another sad statement about the company TO ME.

I have been in BOYCOTT of IK for quite a while.  They've been nothing but misrepresentative about this
product for years. But you can bet your bottom dollar that they're hard at work at "I" whatever...leaving
those of us, who invested hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in SampleTank sounds high and dry.

So, finally, after over 4 years of no support whatsoever, and 10 years of being out on the market, were going to get a ST 3...and everyone beats the drums and bangs the gongs like it's something MAGNIFICENT.  NO...it's long overdue, nothing to speak of but another Sampler, and those who are banging the drums and gongs have only been in the game since the recent sales and got the ST products for next to nothing.  So I can see why THEY are excited.  Not that I blame them...come to the game late, get everything for nothing, and YOU get the benefit.
Be one of the first on board, spend thousands...get shafted...yeah...that's fair.

I've been waiting for this thread to be revived. There seems to be a lack of IK reps around here for about a month so I imagine Obi is waiting for the mothership to land. I just finished deleting all my free IK stuff because I don't want to be a hypocrite. I still think their Fender amp sim is one of the best but I've moved on and committed my money to Guitar Rig and Kontakt. You can't wait forever on vapour ware.

Yup, we've already talked via PM. We will make good on our word for what we offered.

I'm glad to hear that Obi is taking care of the promises made by Peter to Guitarpima. Though there is some grey area there, I can understand how others that had ST3 at the time could take that thread as a promise to all ST3 owners.
Peter did quote Guitarpima and made the bold statement if it is not out by the first of the year, he would authorize Obi to give him that bundle for free.
 
From my observation, it looked like Obi got a bit upset that he was losing the argument , called in the Calvary and they proceeded to try to bully Guitarpima into seeing things their way. For what was said by Guitarpima, I thought taking it to that level with him about their forum policies was uncalled for, especially when Larry was delivering broadside after broadside about their product. Sorry to single you out Larry. Misdirected fire on IK's part IMO.
 
 That was the second time I've seen Obi call for Peter and both times turned out to be total marketing failures from the vantage point of this IK customer. If I was a boss at IK or a major share holder, the bet thread would have been enough for me to put Peter in the unemployment line.
 
 I'm pretty sure there are legal issues with the bet he made and I don't think it is something that would be wise for them to discuss in any open thread.
If any member here feels they were also being addressed in that thread, I would suggest they PM Obi to find out IK's position on this.
 
With that said, I did pick up ST2 during the 50% off Christmas sale and loving it. I certainly don't feel cheated and makes little difference to me that it is still 32bit.
 
If it makes me a hypocrite to still use IK plugs and sounds after all that transpired, I can live with that. My issue with IK is certainly not the quality of their products. I'm also pretty confident that Obi is mostly a great asset to have here. Marketing is great when it's just the facts without the spin and alpha male posturing.
 
In any case I can certainly forgive. I guess we all have a lot to learn about governing our passions myself included.

I'm not trying to invalidate any complaints. They are valid but it does feel a bit like a lynch mob on Obi even if that's not the intent. If Obi made promises he should deliver but most of the ik threads are just repeating the same thing. I'll be the first to admit I stopped holding my breath for ST3 and my expectations are low. Hoping I am pleasantly surprised

And "bashing" may have been the wrong word, but ohgrant seems to get that even with all the valid points, after awhi Klink e these third ngs grow beyond simple right or wrong. All the "me toos" and kindling to a flame that burns out of control even if the intent was withiut malice
