Recently my Logitech mouse developed a problem - the dreaded "phantom double clicks." You press the left button once and get two clicks. It's the most infuriating thing when you're trying to do, well, anything on a computer. It's a common problem with Logitech mice. I found a solution touted online in which you drain the capacitors by taking the batteries out and clicking all the buttons for a minute. It worked, for about a day. My last Logitech mouse had the same problem so I replaced it thinking it was a dud. The replacement developed the problem after about 4 months.
So I called Logitech. The support guy said they'd mail me a new one if I emailed them a scan of my receipt. I told him to email me the details of how to go about emailing it. So he sent me an email which didn't give this info. I emailed them back and requested the info, and received an email with a link which I filled out along with the attached image of the receipt. Some other support dude sent me another email saying they'd received my request but could I send the receipt image. Whatever - I sent it again.
Anyway the upshot is that these doofuses appear to have created two separate support tickets for this, because yesterday I received in the mail TWO count 'em TWO shiny new Logitech mices
This is great. Going by my experience with Logitech, I have calculated that I stand to experience as many as EIGHT months of trouble free mouse usage from these two devices. Life is good.
