I did, and I loved it. Considering it was all done live, everybody put in an awesome performance. I thought the music and singing was great. Definitely a fan of Carrie Underwood now. I've read that there will be an encore viewing but I don't know when. NBC spent $9 million dollars putting that show on.

Would've liked to have seen it. Quite a big risk they took but from what I've read it turned out pretty damn good. Hope it crops up on the internet somewhere.

Of course, it hadn't even been shown here when the first post was made above...

Oh well, I've seen the Julie Andrews version so many times I'm not sure if I'd want to see an alternate take.

Craig it wasn't an alternate take, it was the original take.  No reason to compare a stage musical to a movie version, but they were very different.

But as a CW user, or anyone involved in music or stage production (on any level) it was fascinating.  There's a reason a musical hadn't been a live musical on American TV in 50 years.  I was very curious to see if modern tech would make it much easier and it did, sort of.

There were expected flubs, but some tech issues really surprised me.  The mikes were so hot when Underwood sang the title song that the hiss was driving me crazy (it got much better) and I had to remember how difficult the whole production was.

It was very cool and I'm glad the ratings were high, but from what I've seen on the internet very few people understood what it was.

What I meant was that we on the "Left Coast" were (as usual) three hours behind the East Coast so the review post came in before the program had even aired out here.

Considering what a huge production it was, being one of the most important holiday shows this season, I'm really surprised that more people on the Cakewalk forums aren't talking about it. This was really a big musical event.

I watched some of it with my wife. I thought Underwood did a good job singing the songs. I thought she lacked in the acting department. To me, there was absolutely no chemistry between her and the leading man.

I recorded it to DVD and watched a little bit of it when it aired.  I too found the audible hiss level annoying.  Glad to hear that they resolved that problem further into the show.  I'm looking forward to sitting down and watching the while thing.  I hear that NBC plans to air it again sometime before Christmas.  :-)

I think I spoke a bit early before. When I posted there were only fans putting up their critiques.

The professional reviewers have not been kind :)

I am still hoping to watch it though. NBC are stoked with the ratings which bodes well for another such venture.
