I find some unexpected comfort in not knowing any of these songs and performers you've all been alluding to.

Well, except for Bohemian Rhapsody of course. Never get tired of that one. If I had an ex-wife I'd make it her ringtone. We'll not let you go, no, no, no no.

I find it both comforting and hard to believe that some of you guys beat me in terms of seclusion. :P

I think it had a lot to do with what the radio stations played (in San Diego) when I was growing up.  I always wanted more, but they (KGB) seemed to keep playing the same songs over and over.  Even the "alternative" radio station (KROQ) only played the same songs - albeit for a different genre.

So, over the last few years, I've been discovering lots of music I never knew about and am loving it!

Me, I've kept tons of things for later.

Like, I've known Bowie forever, a few songs and albums, but it wasn't until a few years ago that I really got into it, and started buying the rest of the records and finding all those gems.

There are tons of artists and bands I know but have yet to give time to.

And if I ran out of things to discover, worst case, I could try and enjoy Rush or something... :P There's enough music in there to  keep me busy for 10-12 years.
