I still can't play guitar because of my finger injury. Now I have a dry cough, stuffed head, low fever, just general crud.
I have taken a few pictures of my finger over time. I wish I had taken more. I may post them once it is well. I tried playing guitar last Sunday and opened it back up. Then Monday the bandaid I had on it pulled about 1/2 inch of skin off the top of the finger. It is healing though. No more bandaid, I hope in a few days all the scabbing will come off. It still hurts like heck when I press on it while doing something. I'll be gald when this is OVER. The cut it exactly where my index fretting finger hits the fretboard edge. I swear, this year it has been one thing after another... but I am thankful because I know that somewhere, someone was just in a bad accident, someone just got the word that their child has died or is missing, someone somewhere is being abused, someone just found out that they or someone the love has cancer... I just have a cold and a cut on my finger.... So, yeah... I am thankful.  It is relative in a way though. It is still aggrivating... but I'll be OK. One good thing, my wife cannot understand what I am saying because my voice is almost gone . I can grunt instead of answer!

PS.. I almost forgot, I am going to go to the doctor tomorrow, I get this crap almost every year and he gives my a bottle or two of Robitussin AC. He asked me how I dose it and I was honest... I sip it out of the bottle when I feel I need it. It does make one feel better.

Sounds like you may have had the same killer cold I just got over.  I spent almost the entire month of November physically ill.   First I thought it was a cold, but a more thorough diagnosis revealed flu.  Because of cigarette smoking, the flu became a serious middle ear infection.  I spent weeks 1 and 2 of November kicking the flu, weeks 3 and 4 dealing with antibiotics and the ear infection.

Finally, about 4 days ago, I broke my smoking habit.  I've just spent every day since last Wednesday morning in, "Cold Turkey," mode.

This has been a hard, hard month, and hard, hard year.  I totally agree :-)

I'm telling you guys....elderberry! Sambucus is the brand to get...I use the throat spray all winter because I'm prone to niggling sore throats and the occasional sinus crap. I swear I get it from riding the buses and subways in NYC - people are sneezing and coughing all over the place. You just give your throat a few sprays multiple times a day and not only does it protect you from coughs and colds but it also drastically reduces the symptoms and the length when you do get them. I tried all sorts of other stuff like zinc lozenges and they never worked for me but I've seen a huge reduction in symptoms this year from taking this. It tastes great, and you can use it as much as you like without building up a tolerance:

You know the cold/flu/double pneumonia won't last forever.  I used to get bronchitis on a fairly regular basis.  I haven't been getting it as often these days--knock on wood.  It's been replaced by a number of other health issues.  I especially hope the finger heals well--and soon--since it's keeping you from the guitar playing that you enjoy so much or it's part of your income.

Get well soon on both counts.

I felt unwell from Friday lunchtime onwards - sore throat, sneezing, total loss of energy.
This continued all through Saturday/Sunday, now it's Monday morning & back to work and it's more or less gone.

So I've basically lost the entire weekend and I had so many things I wanted to get done.

Little tip to speed that process up - soak the fingertip in a cup a warm salty water for about 20 mins a day. I cut myself all the time (being a gardener) and get split fingertips this time of year. Salt certainly helps the healing. Fine sea salt is best.

Hi,

Been lucky so far ... no major colds or flu's but I have been making sure I get my rest. I have had to take a nap when I get home from work, and then get to bed on time, and this generally means about 10 hours in bed to keep the colds at bay.
