Still testing I will be able to give you better info late tonight, working with it now.
Please do let us know.  It looks nice and clean.  I like the idea of having "alternative references" and customizable target curves, and that runs at 48khz, and takes fewer room measurments (now only 7 needed) to get an accurate picture of the room.   But, how does it sound?  I know it is better, but ARC 1 was great already.  Is this that much greater?  So, when you and others get to run it through its paces, please report back at how it compares to ARC1?

On edit:  Oh yes, and thank you IKMultimedia for a product that is really intended for studio use.  This is the first product IKM has released in quite a while that genuinely interests me and yes it is 64bit.  I hope this is just the first of several great pro studio releases to come. Thanks

It is very nice and clean. The alternative references are great, Boom Box, car stereo and idock. To me that is worth the upgrade price alone. But there is more. How does it sound? Better with new measurements. And less cpu usage on my system and project, This will vary because tons of factors. Like 2-3% less = not a whole lot.
I ran test and when you use the old legacy measurements basically all the new options are grayed out and you might as well use Arc 1. The curves and measurements are identical. But the new Monitor feature is great!
But with new measurements- Which took much less time than the originals. The target curve was almost perfect. Which sounded tons better than the old measurements. On all my new measurements I was able to get to the target curve, you can't tell the difference between the white and green line. In ARC 1 I always had three lines and felt it could be better. Now they have reached that better point!
I strongly recommend redoing the measurements, for sound and extra options. I A/b them and chose ARC 2 every time.

I am just a studio owner, with songs to be recorded. Not affiliated with IK or anyone else. Just a customer who uses it daily, and my demo's have improved greatly since the use of ARC. Thanks.

Laney:  Excellent information--very clear and well articulated.  Thank you very much for this hands on review.  The fact that you use it and its predecessor makes you review resonate with weight.  THANKS!!!!!

I bought the upgrade and ran the installation manager but all it did was accept the code. I can't figure out what I have to do to download the upgrade itself. EDIT - found it on My Products page. never mind.

I just read this at GS concerning JamPoints:

"Since the scenario was a little odd where you'd have to wait to use your JamPoints to get a better deal, we've added the ability to use JamPoints on the upgrade to defer 25% of the total. So you can now put up to 25% equivalent JamPoints into the cart and reduce the upgrade price.

Thank you for reporting this and I apologize for any inconvenience. In the case where you've already purchased, if you could please contact us and we'll have support and order processing work with you to get it resolved."

Welllll................howd it go? I like what I'm reading about ARC2 and a 25% discount would push me all the way over.

Anyone know if there's an auto bypass feature in this version?
That's really the only issue that I've had using it.

LANEY

Not sure what you mean by auto bypass?
Can't you just turn it off in the fx bin to bypass?

I think this a feature request for Cakewalk and not so much IK. Something like "pass thru on mixdown" to a bus could do the trick.

So all buses go to a Main Bus, the Main Bus routes to an "ARC bus". The "ARC bus" has a flag/switch that says "pass thru fx bin (i.e. disable) on export.

Another possibility is that Cakewalk recognizes and an active ARC instance and on the export dialog there is an option/flag/switch to "pass thru" that can be set a permanent parameter.

It's inatalled. It seemed to make a copy of my measurement from ARC folder to ARC 2 folder but when I fire up ARC-2 I'm told there are mo measurements.

I'm a guy and a lazy arse to boot thus I've not read if there is anything to do to initailize/convert/transform my old measurement for use in ARC 2.

I'll probably take a new measurement today or tomorrow.

I'm guessing it doesn't know where to look for your old measurements. The new measurements will be better. I really like the feature that allows for listening on alternate systems and the finer tuning that apparently is under the hood.
