I all,

so, Black WEEK (whatever happened to Friday?) has been crushing to my wallet (but oh so much fun!!!). The "last" plug-ins that are on my "I really want these" list are the Waves SSL. And wouldn't you know it, they are running a one day sale on Waves SSL at Audiodeluxe.com for $319.00!

Please tell me that even at this price, these are some crappy plug-ins. Please tell me they won't place nice with Slate VCC or that that my Mercury Platinum purchase completely negates any need for SSL.

HELP ME!

PS: Oh crap, I just realized I have a $15 AD gift card too...

The SSL plugs are nice but, they're not the holy grail or anything. You will do just fine without them. Aren't they in the Mercury bundle?

SSL is not included in Mercury...but they are currently giving SSL with the purchase of FULL Mercury...not the upgrade...

That being said, these are very nice plugs....while, no, they are not the be all and end all of plugs, they are probably the best SSL Emulation out there...

But if I were you I'd wait if you don't just HAVE to have them, keep an eye out on KVR for a better price, or for another sale closer to the Saturnalia....

Oops, Leadfoot - I hadn't had my morning coffee when I posted. I have Platinum, not Mercury. :)

I have heard that the SLL group is one of the best set of plugs that Waves produces. That said, I have a lot of other plugs and I'm really digging the Abbey Roads stuff - RS56, HLS, Kramer Sig, as well as the CLA classic comps. The more I think about it, the more I wonder if I'm already set. It seems that I gravitate to a more vintage vibe with the Abbey Roads stuff (I'm an old Pink Floyd fan) and perhaps the SSL is a different sound altogether rather than something to compliment what I already have... I picked up the Slate VCC and FG-X too (haven't arrived yet), as well as the Maag EQ4 (Which I really dig).

Maybe before I got all of this the SLL would have been the bees knees, but now I'm wondering if it's a different set of crayons that I don't need for what I do...

Sounds like you have a nice palette of "colors" already. I think you should hold off for now. Just my opinion though. :)

If you've got Platinum already you can very easily live without the SSL bundle...very easily.

If I had an extra $319 to blow, a medium-fi bus compressor/EQ would be pretty darn low on the list. Well below groceries and gasoline. But if I was as rich as, say, yorolpal, and $319 was pocket change...nope, still wouldn't blow it on a channel strip.

you guys rock!!!!

You've cost me a lot of money (Maag EQ4 for starters  - looking at YOU 'ol pal ), but here you go saving me a nice bit of scratch as well. :)

The IK Multimedia British Suite is on sale at the moment for $60 at audiodeluxe  and I have heard great things about that.

To be honest I do think cake did a great job on their versions, but that just my opinion.

You have to have it.  Your music will always suck if you don't have it.  Your talent and skill are meaningless without the Waves SSL Bundle.  Either get it or there's no place for you in the music business.
