I would love to purchase the VS700C but considering that it is still £2000 GBP i cannot take a chance that it will not have full functionality with X2.
The first X2 Teaser video contained text which alluded to V studio 700 support but as of yet there has been no announcement as to improvements etc.
I for one would welcome some official input on this - please - as im waiting to pull the trigger but its to big a deal to gamble.

Thanks for any info

That would be a big gamble, I think it best you start researching other controllers.

Yeah, us existing users are for the most feeling slightly underwhelmed. It's hard to possibly comprehend as the 700 gear does work ok under X2, it's just not a full integration and you get reasonably frustrated at the interruption to your workflow when wanting to control plugs and the like as one example. Silly....

We are now up to X2 and the 700 gear is left behind, that is an accurate comment... so I am not sure I would be pulling the trigger just yet. If you are intent on a hardware interaction as part of your creative process that is not confined to a mouse, then you may want to consider ALL the other options. This is indeed a damn shame as the Sonar platform has been excellent (in the most) for a long time and I believe it is still hard to beat....err, unless you want a full featured control surface.

Cheers.

Shouldn't the VS700 be working perfectly with Sonar X2?

It should work. Not perfectly though, as it was designed for 8.5. So it couldn't always nicely handle those intense GUI and workflow changes since then.

Yeah it does work and it's great if you are just after fader control and a few other surface features like transport control.

It really irks you when you go for the plug in and eq control for example.... really annoying sadly. There are a few other documented issues in the forum.

Cheers.

It becomes quite an expensive piece of kit when a person is only after fader control and transport control type of features. I really, really, hope that us VS owners don't get left behind as Sonar moves forward. I bought mine thinking it would be nearly future proof since it bears the Cakewalk branded stamp! I'd like to think my decent-sized investment could be considered a long-term one.

It has been awhile since I've been on here, but I do try to keep up with current events, but anyways, I totally agree with Mully.  I have owned the VS-700 system for quite a while now and back then I was under the impression and investment that SONAR and the VS-700 would climb to new heights together, but that doesn't seem to be the case.  Me personally, if I did not own one, I would definitely be keeping my options open.

It was working great with X1 for me, but is a bit broken again in X2. Which is disappointing.

Sadly for me too. I want to use the unit as much as possible. That's why I bought it. I live in Norway and payed more than $ 6 000 for the complete VS-700 system a couple of years ago. I decided to go completely SONAR, but have regretted that a couple of times because the VS-700 support is quite bad, I think...
