  • So I have to say this about BFD3

While I'm still a little skittish that it might have stability issues, it sounds just damn amazing. It is by far the coolest drum program I've ever used. The biggest thing is just the sound. It sounds and plays fantastic just as is. No tweaking needed, no faffing about. A lot of other high quality drums I've seen have had real issues with things like uneven velocity mapping and so on. Not here, it all sounds great, just as is.

I am also just loving the interface, with regards to tweaking and kit building. I like that you can have a really massive kit. None of this sissy "Oh this thing has a whole FOUR toms!" stuff. No, none of that. 6 toms, 2 basses, 3 snares, a bajillion cymbals, it is happy with it all. That is one issue I've had with a lot of dedicated drum kit programs I've seen in the past, like XLN, is that they assume you want a normal sized kit. No dammit, I want ALL OF THE DRUMS ALL OF THE TIMES! :D BFD3 seems quite pleased to do that for you.

Ditto. Building kits is dead simple, tons of tweaking, easy access to an array of settings. Been getting lots of use here.

Does anyone know if you can use the Zildjian z and s-pack cymbals, or would I just have to use bfd3 for drums and bfd eco for the cymbals?

I am using the Zildjian DV with BFD3. It contains both the z and s pack cymbals.

I'm using the Z-Pack with BFD 3.  I got it for $20 on an AudioMidi No Brainer, and it came
with BFD Eco DV...what  a deal that was...

Yeah, I'll say that was a good deal! I bought it when it first came out, and I think it was $179 or $199.

BFD3 surpasses all expectations. It is simply the best sounding and user friendly drum synth around.

As the OP says it is great right out of the box. The samples load quickly and will often surprise you with how well it interprets MIDI. For those that want total control it has nearly unlimited tweaking.
