In the Cake Store X3 Producer is now $599.00!!!

And the SALE price is $525.00!!!

Glad I got it when I did....
Upgrades haven't changed....but I don't think a price increase was warranted
or WISE on the part of Cakewalk....IJS....now is not the time to drive customers
away...

Maybe they're just listing the MSRP the way Gibson prices guitars on their web site. You see the product in the store for $100 less and go nuts. It could also be an attempt to firm up their dealer network. My local music chain is still selling X1 and the web site makes it almost impossible to find. Perhaps a price increase for direct purchase will push people to distributors.

Pure speculation of course.

Wow just over a year ago I bought X1 Production Suite with a free upgrade to X2 for $299.

Seems to me it's priced like its competitors. If you're the type that can't wait - you either buy at an introductory sale price or an upgrade price - otherwise, you pay the full ticket.  I don't think that someone who's three or four versions behind at this point is particularly worried - they would have bought by now if they were that interested - same for other's moving into Sonar for the first time.

For all else, wait till someone has it on sale - it's what you'd do for any purchase.

Well SG...it's been $499 for the past X number of years...

And they couldn't really sell it then...so I don't think that raising the price is
going to be conducive to sales for Cakewalk....IJS...

I got the upgrade...been in since X1....but still...to me...bad idea...

They had a buttload of people BALK at the $50 increase in the upgrade price...
So raising the "outright" price by $100...I think Gibson wants to kill them off....
and there are still A LOT of issues with X3...

Just not a good idea...not in a depressed Economy....and Cubase, which is A FAR MORE
viable program (ducks) is still $499.00, and has FAR MORE, and better features then X3...
and Studio One was just on sale for HALF PRICE...

I think it's a pretty ludicrous move..unless, as I stated, Gibson wants Cakewalk to die...

Sweetwater still has it for $499, so I'm not sure why the CW site is more.

That used to be the case though I was surprised to find that they'd put the actual price on their web site for the new 2014 models - at least for the models that I've looked at. The SGJ, for example, is listed at $499, same as actual price. The Les Paul Classic is also listed w/ it's actual non-inflated price IIRC.

At any rate, it's still going for $499 at Sweetwater - same as Cubase and Digital Performer.

PT 11 is $699 so SONAR X3 is still competitive.

Going head to head with your discount big box distributors isn't a good idea, that's why.

I love the new home page, Maybe they are paying for it through new increased price. ;)
