Tried for the first time 2 weeks ago. Single notes track ok if played slow, but felt a little delay.. but chords, anything more than 4 (edited) 3 voices will have some tracking problem. Perhaps I do finger style (on an electric), and not with a pick.

Btw, where did you get the updates info ? I signed up for the newsletter, but didn't get a single mail yet.

Usually JamOrigin publishes links to beta releases on the kvr thread prior to publishing the update on their website. This allows them to shake down the beta before general release. When they publish the update on their website, they send out email. If you subscribed to the newsletter and are not getting the update notices try sending them an email via their website

0.8.1 fixed the VST blowing up SONAR. Guess it is time to learn Lua.

Is "blowing up Sonar" a good or bad thing?  Do you mean it is still crashing Sonar?  or that it is insanely good?  Honest question, just want to make sure I understand.  BTW, have family visiting and have not been in my little studio to test MG out yet, but will try to get some testing of MG done soon.

In this context, a program blowing up is not a good thing. Inserting the 0.8.0 VST in an audio track would cause SONAR to shut down instantly without an error message or Windows log entry. The 0.8.1 release does not shut down SONAR.

Thanks; that makes sense; sorry for the confusion.

I just played with MG 0.8.1 in Sonar X3a and it seems fine; no crashes.  The new features like the arpeggiator seems to work but not sure if I will use it/them much.  For some reason, MG 8.1 seems to be working better for me in Sonar.  I still can't get it to generate midi output (even with "enable midi" checked and the regedit change from 0 to 1).  However, it is now triggering softsynths from within MG's own instrument output.  This is definitely an improvement for me.

If it is triggering synths in MIDI Guitar, the MIDI should record. Make sure the audio track w/ MIDI Guitar in the fx bin has echo on. Are you using a Simple Instrument Track or Audio+MIDI tracks for the target synth? I do not use Simple Instrument Tracks.

One thing I just noticed with 0.8.1 is when playing a synth on a separate track and then add the piano or guitar direct out in MIDI Guitar, the pitch of the synth drops.

a couple of notes...  haven't tried 0.8.1 yet but was able to get midi recorded using Simple instrument track method.  i did have a similar crash on the previous version trying to use the VSampler as vsti.. it shut down X2 totally. haven't tried it again since then. havn't had time to check out the latest release of MG.

0.8.2 officially released at their website, received the email notice a little while ago. The pitch problem noted above in 0.8.1 is gone.

Hey Scook!  I had a Breakthrough!  Finally after weeks of not getting MidiGuitar to operate in the DAW program like you and others have, I actually got it working as it is suppose to work.  Now in DAW mode (not Standalone with LoopMidi), I can enable midi output on MidiGuitar (and now it actually works), and then can route that midi output to any softsynth.  MidiGuitar is now working for me in both Standalone and DAW modes.

I am a happy camper.  I uninstalled previous versions, did a fresh install of v8.2, and followed the procedure to configure as synth and to set the regedit from 0 to 1.  Then inserted MG on audio track, and right clicked the synthrack, and selected enable midi from the pulldown menu.  Now it works.

Wow, this is a breakthrough for me.  I like using it in Standalone mode, or in Standalone mode routing it through Loopmidi into Sonar, but having the ability to call MidiGuitar up as a vst simplifies it use for me.  What a releif.

Good news. It just had to work given your previous post. Now that you got it working, you really should not need to mess anything other than overwrite the old VST and exe when updating.
