i haven't checked in for a while and see this thread is trailing off.  i thought i'd share one of the things i've been doing with the MG software.  i do a live net broadcast using guitars, drums and native american flutes and i've incorporated the MG standalone version into the mix via my hardware mixer and some routing, i can now play a back track or loop pedal and either play a synth thru the MG software as designed (stand alone version) or (this is where it gets cool) i can play my flute and have it trigger the synth instead of a guitar and use it as a midi controller, PLUS with the mixer routing i can layer in the real live flute and whatever synth sound i choose. i can even take the synth sound and route it thru the loop pedal to create multi layers of different instruments and combine them with real instruments.  i know that's not what the designers had in mind but it seems to work out pretty well.  if you read my earlier posts on here about the routing problem, it has now been turned into some tasty icing on the cake...... but now i have to relearn how to use MG in a DAW lol....

Very cool Jim. I truly enjoy reading and learning about all these creative techniques you guys all incorporate in useage. I'm still using the free Beta version while testing out the latest version of MG on my new build with Win8......this is definitely on the top of my list of next purchases.

Thanks for sharing

Just read over on the KVR thread that Jam Origin's Midi Guitar will be upgraded in a  week or so to v9.0.  The developer notes that while doing some more tests they have found a new sweet spot:

" Something that felt extremely responsive like 0.5 with accuracy of 0.6 and lower latency of 0.7.
....  And there it was: It has found some headroom to improve tracking while preserving the very
        responsive feel."

It may be a week or more before it is released, but it looks like v9.0 might be a winner with responsive, accurate tracking at acceptable latency.

a couple other improvements I forgot to mention that may be useful for some:

It will also have support for drop tuning, a built-in interactive help-system and smaller file sizes.

Great news.  I was also just about to post the news.  Have not used it yet, but below is what the developer says about this release:

WHAT'S NEW:
Major tracking improvements (generally more responsive and improved latency). Also fixed some tracking issues at buffer sizes smaller than 5.8ms (bug in 0.7, 0.8 )

Support for drop D/D# tunings.
Built in interactive help system and documentation.
Smaller binary file sizes.
New "Dynamics" MIDI Machine for dynamics automation
Fix: No longer sends out MIDI CC-119 streams
Fix: Various minor fixes

ATTENTION:
We discovered that all versions 0.7.x and 0.8.x has a bug which will overwrite recognition presets (including the default ones) with a uniform/flat pitch sensitivity iff those presets have been originally created with another version of MIDI Guitar. This typically has bad impact on tracking. It is now corrected in 0.9 and forward but please delete or revisit your old recognition presets. Also make sure you try each of the three default presets again to find the best setup for your guitar.
Also, versions 0.7 - 0.8 have had a problem where buffers smaller than 256 at 44.1Kh would degrade quality tracking considerably. This is fixed in 0.9.

After reading the new Release notes, I was ready to purchase the full version last evening...........but after installing 0.9, I just couldn't get it to use to use my ASIO (Toneport DI soundcard) driver......it kept giving me an error (something like) ASIO driver not found (although I re-installed the driver). In the past, I've got it working with earlier versions of Jamorigin, but not this one. However, I was able to use 0.9 with the WDM driver and all of this was done in standalone mode. In X2, I'll be definitely using my Tonport/ASIO, so this is a major concern......

I'm not sure what to do to get it working and just can't justify buying it until this actually works.......any thoughts??
