So 0.9.1 MIDI Guitar works OK in standalone using WDM? Did you try using MIDI Guitar in X2 as a VST while running in ASIO mode?

I only saw 0.9.1 this morning and haven't installed that yet (I installed 0.9.0.....not sure of the last digit, but yes, it worked in standalone WDM mode). I haven't tried it in X2.....wanted to see how it worked out in standalone first......I'll try that out this evening and post back.

i've been using MG more as stand alone so far, just for the enjoyment.  here's a little clip of an impov... very minimalist style using acoustic guitar and a Dim Pro patch  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_b7kH4qvU8&feature=c4-overview&list=UUxjiJrtefKAVksO95cKX1hQ

Pardon my resurrection of this thread, but I just found out about MIDIGuitar about an hour ago, so I went to their website to check it out. The website is still up, but all links I was able to find to d/l the 0.9 beta are now broken.  I'm getting "Address not found" messages for their entire URL jam-o.com. And I'm getting a "Not Found" message stating "The requested URL /midi-guitar/vst.html was not found on this server." So they've brought down jam-o.com and they've gotten rid of, or blocked access to the directory /midi-guitar/ .

At first I thought they were rolling up the carpets and about to take the sign down. Now, I'm thinking that they've ended the beta testing, but they haven't announced it yet.  Does this sound about right to you? I mean it's been in beta now for over a year, hasn't it?  And didn't one of the developers say that 0.9.1 was a real game changer, or words to that effect?  So 0.9.2 might have been a maintenance release, just tidying things up in preperation for 1.0. Possibly?

Dang it. I sure would like to get my hands on 0.9.2 so I could try it out before buying the licensed edition. Anybody here wanna share? If it works as well as people say it does, I've got a YouRock MIDI guitar controller here that I just bought and I might just exercise my 30-day return privilege on it. Even if I have to buy a copy of MIDIGuitar, I'd still be saving $180. But I sure would like to be able to try it out first.

Hey, there's a guy named David Wallimann who is in one of the links that y'all provided, who was trying out a beta copy of it. The recording was posted on December 20th, last year.  So he was probably trying an early version of 0.9, I'm guessing? Of course, he's all jazzed about it and his playing sounded really nice too. He mentions toward the end of his video that the beta comes with only a single soft synth and that it has only one voice -- piano. He says you can use this synth for as long as you like, but that if you load in a different soft synth, it will work, but you're restricted to only one minute of playing.  Is this the way the beta has been working for y'all too?

Oh, the Jam Origins folks were participating in that discussion thread also and they posted a link to a "huge discussion" that's been going on over at the KVR forums about it. Here's that link:

I guess you could say it's still going on too. Last post was on October 14th. I've just joined up over there at KVR and I think I'll post a note asking about the links being down.

The Beta is still on. I was able to download 0.9.3 from here
The video must be old. There are several synths included but they really don't matter because the standalone MIDI Guitar is also a VST host. MIDI Guitar also comes as a VST plug-in for your host.

Try the fourth post down on this page which has a link to the 9.2 download: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=359095&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=945

I can't speak for the developer, but I can say that from time to time their webpage was down for a few hours for maintainence.  Check and see if the link I gave above works for you.  If not perhaps others here might chime in.  Good luck and do let us know how you progress.

Scook beat me to it and he has the 9.3 link.  Good luck.

Hmmmmmm still not impressed with even the simplest of strumming. Stray notes jumping in out of nowhere.

I set my buffers to 128 and 256 to no avail. Played with the sensitivity, not much difference at 25, 45, 80 or 100.

So far I'm glad I did not purchase this.

Bapu:  I don't strum "normally" with any of my Midi Guitars.  I have both 2 Axons and one Roland Midi controller and I never "strum" normally with them.  Rather I pluck or play more like a pianoesque style.  This style is a very precise attack that is clean and allows for all the midi notes to be seen by the Axon or Roland or in the current case the JamOrigin program  So when I test out the JamOrigins Midi Guitar program for use with a normal (non hex pickup) guitar, I apply the same midi guitar playing technic--clean plucking or clean picking or gentle slow strums.  Yes, I  may do gentle slow strums, but not the folksy or heavy rock type strumming like I do with my D35 or in a folk song or a Tom Petty song for example.  That more common strumming is something that I do NOT expect from any midi guitar program.  I have never found midi synth controllers to accept strumming well not even a GR55 set for playing virtual strats or 12 string guitars.

Not trying to be confrontational here, just saying that with most (perhaps all?) midi synth guitars control boxes there is a different technique that is used and perhaps a different expectation.  I find that JamOrigins tracks remarkably well and is useful in jotting down ideas and musical phrases into a track--I am more comfortable on a guitar than on a piano or keyboard and so I can use the midi guitar program to get ideas and chords and progressions into a track and then edit them as needed.

At least the demo is free and you did not have to pay to find out it was not right for you.

[[Edit: I reread your post and realize you gave it a real try with the settings.  I should add that my strat does not track well with this program, but my ES175 is wonderfull with it.  So different pickups and different guitars track differently.  Even on the KRV site some love it; some find it tracks well, others have trouble.  Again, at least you did not spend any $$ on it.]]
