Instructions for using this with Sonar (from their website):

1. Copy VST pluging to your VST folder.

2. Launch Sonar. It should automatically recognize the new plug-in and create needed registry entries (ie you should see the plug-in as an effect in Audio FX menu). If not, use Plug-in Manager to scan new plug-ins.

3. Use Cakewalk Plug-in Manager, find MIDI Guitar in Effects section and open "Plug-in Properties". Enable "Configure as synth" option.

4. Close Sonar and use Regedit to change generateEvents key from "0" to "1" in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\Cakewalk VST X64\Inventory\ -> MIDI Guitar

5. Launch Sonar. Add new audio track. Insert MIDI Guitar (now found in Soft Synths menu) to FX bin.

6. Go to Synth rack view. Right click grey area of the MIDI Guitar synth block and click "Enable MIDI Output".

That's it. Add your favourite synth to a new track and route MIDI input from MIDI Guitar, which should be visible in MIDI input menu.

Thanks for the detailed steps. But, I did all that and I do not get any output from guitar to synth. Not even in record enabled for the MIDI track.

Hmmmmmmm.

I'm on 64bit Win 7 with SONAR 64bit.

Bapu, I believe routing for this is similar to setting up the Kirnu Arp or Vocalizer (not sure if you've have these.....then again, I'd be surprised if you didn't ).

See if this youtube video from jhart might help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hIzD_GqV8s

This no workie.

I have KONTAKT with Session Strings loaded as the Synth Folder.

The MIDI of the Synth Folder is set to MIDI GUITAR input (OMNI), Output of MIDI track is to KONTAKT instance 1.

Bapu, in the "Insert Soft Synth Options" window (when you insert a new synth), try checking the box "Enable MIDI Output".

(BTW, this is just a shot in the dark)....

EDIT: Nevermind, I see that this is also done in that video on Kirnu and you've prolly done it.

Haven't got that worked out either Bapsi, If you launch the stand alone, it has an option to connect to DAW, that tells you to download MIDI loop and use that as your MIDI input in Sonar

Clifford, not sure if you've seen this yet, but the Fishman Tripple Play midi-controler seems to be the next best option. I don't think it's out yet, but it's really impressive......at least the way Burr Johnson made it look at NAMM 2012. This was designed by the same guy that built the Axon and it looks like it will leave the Roland GR series in the dark......I think it's around $300 for the Fishman.

Thanks for this.....
Very cool......and you know a few years ago I was actually trying to decide between the Axon or the Roland Gr series.....

These are very cool break thru's.........can't wait to try them!

You're welcome Clifford.

Once it comes out, I'd like to get it too (after the initial testing everyone does). I like the idea of playing 2 (or more) instruments at the same time via programming the strings......latency and sensitivity will be important factors.

Sad to report can't get it to work in Sonar here either. I'll keep an eye on it's development

Hi
I found this on the Triple Play

http://www.youtube.com/wa...dded&v=bCGruXRijp8

Have to say does look impressive - a few years back I tried a GR system, but to be honest I found it more trouble than it was worth.
The one thing I would like to see before buying one of these is the midi transcription - with the GR system you got so many ghost notes etc it took ten times longer to correct than to do if from a keyboard from scratch - playing live was not too bad as long as you were ultra careful. But it was extremely limited in what you could get away with.
One thing I can say, you could NEVER even attempt this sort of shredding on a GR system - not sure why you would want to, but I suppose it does show this new systems tracking capabilities.

Apparently release has been delayed until 1st quarter 2013 - perhaps there are some little issues!!!!
