I sussed it.

I already had loopBe1 (similar product to MIDI Loop that Grant mentioned above) installed. However I had loopBe1 disabled. Once I enabled it MIDI Guitar worked in SONAR as described.

I believe that this is due to the fact that SONAR is NOT a MIDI out capable DAW, IIRC.

If I configure it like the instructions above, record and input echo the track with MIDI Guitar in it, it works fine. Did have to go back and add the regedit bit after X2a because of the VST reset. I have been recording MIDI with it for a few days. If you do not want to record the MIDI but just want to drive a synth, you can use the Instrument Drop down in the second column to scan your VST synths and load it directly into MIDI Guitar. Or you can do both at the same time.

I have not tried it with Sonar yet. I got it to work as a standalone using DP with a martin. The bends don't work but I'm not sure DP is capable of that. I'll have to route it to the TTS-1. It's still got latency and it may need a hotter signal but so far it's not bad.

I don't like the UI. to bright and almost unreadable.

For anyone still having problems running in Sonar, make sure Input Echo is enabled on both the MIDI Guitar track and the soft synth track.

Some synths are more accurate than others. The True Pianos VST that comes with Sonar was pretty bad: extra notes, missing notes., etc., while Alchemy and z3ta were pretty much spot-on.

Just curious. Do you have loopMIDI or loopBe1 (or a similar product) already installed? As I said above, this product only worked in SONAR after I enabled loopBe1.

I do not have an extra MIDI looping software on my machine. I do as jma, have input echo and record both the track with MIDI Guitar and the synth MIDI track.

I'm pretty sure I tried that.

However, with loopBe1 enabled I do not need to have record or echo on for the MIDI Guitar (audio) track to now trigger the MIDI track and thus the synth. In fact I record an audio of the guitar track and did not record the MIDI and upon playback the audio track drove the synth.

So, it seems you can just apply MIDI Guitar (as a synth FX bin insert) to any previously recorded guitar track and drive any synth (YMMV on the accuracy bssed on the quality of the recorded track).

So, is the $99.95 price the 30% off price or is there a coupon for the 30% off?

I mean, $99.96 is 30% off $148.80. $148.80 seems an odd price point.

Woo hoo! It was the head up the old arse syndrome, got it working now. Far more accurate and sensitive than my Casio for chords. Much more responsive than my Sonuus G2M hardware. It will pick up every note of a fast lick where the G2M had lag and missed notes at fast speed.  Payday it's mine.
