Big thanks Scook.

Downloading it now...

I'll be doing the same this evening.

Has anyone actually bought this software?
If yes, your thoughts?

Mesh,

I purchased this and have had some time to play with it.

It will not replace the likes of a Roland hardware but is the first and only credible software of its kind, and was worth the investment for my needs.

It's in the beta stage now and haven't fired up 0.7 yet so figure it's only getting better.

0.61 introduced bend but is a work in progress.

The guitar has to be tuned exact for it to track properly and the setup can adjust somewhat for your specific guitar refining the response to each string. First software allowing you to play chords and the fundamental recognized and tracked out of the mix polyphonic.

Bit of initial struggle learning to get it down right, like learning another instrument.

Worth downloading the demo to check it out.

Best,
John

I bought it when it was on sale last year. My keyboard skills stink more than guitar skills, so it helps me. Does take a bit to get used to. This version broke the instrument scanning feature, expect an update soon. The thread above is the best source for info on features and development. Looking forward to the next version. Each string will have it's own MIDI channel.

Thanks John and Scook for the info.

I have been playing with the 0.61 demo and do like it a lot, but like you guys say, it does take a bit to get used to.

I'm still trying to decide whether it's better to get the YRG2 or this.....
(the + side of this is I can play me guitar with strings vs. the YRG2).

0.7.1 for PC released now, MAC version soon. See link above

Edit: forget about this version, the new VST scanner is unusable.

...not the greatest fan of the forum software... Auto posted my post before I could finish. Critical-to-life survival post is a couple replies down the line...

Agreed all across the board. You can reduce latency by loading the synth directly into MIDI-Guitar but the scan function is broken so that option is out for now. The latency does not bother me though. Mellotron samples for DimPro/Rapture http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=1410821 Some time ago, I made Rapture patches from the Redtron samples.

Thanks guys,

Got .71 going. Not updated on their website yet.

The bend thing still needs work but seeing that all vsti's are not created equal. Got to be almost impossible to have pulled this off even where the beta is now. Unknown is how each synth will react, and it seems to be all over the map, good and bad.

After setting the thing up, try the DSK Strings plug to get an idea of the bend limitations under favorable conditions.

Can't get IK SampleTank to respond to bend nicely, but a real feast of synth sounds that do track accurately to the fundamental.

Can't also do fast riffs and there is still a few millisecs latency, but if you play slower and accurately, the program is amazing. Was playing along with the old Moody Blues Knights in White Satin with a strat going thru some random freeware SynthEdit Mellotrons. Sent chills. Like I was there.

I've been using it and It's really good. Better than any other Guitar Midi solutions.. Yes, fast attack patches are glitchy but workable. Pads, and strings are great.. I am getting low latency here.  It's the audio interface that dictates that.
Anyone using Omnisphere with it.   I want to buy that but I'd like to know that it triggers at least as good as Dim Pro or Rapture.  Some synths trigger better than others with this Midi software.  All said  It is really great to finally be able to play synths with my guitar.  now I'll have to break out the Allan Holdsworth Albums and check out the style of play.  Oh  BTW I purchased it.  Well worth the 99 bucks.
